The Office of Multicultural Affairs is accepting applications for Multicultural Affairs Ambassadors and Mentors for the Reaching Achievement & Committed to Excellence (R.A.C.E.) Mentoring Program for the 2020-21 academic year. These are both great opportunities for students to connect and be involved with the office also while also learning more about the office.

Pokemon Club Meeting!
Are you interested in Pokemon? Well if you love Pokemon Go, Pokemon trading cards, or the Pokemon video games, the Pokemon Club is the place to be!
The meeting will be held today, Thursday March 12 in Pennebaker room 201 during dead hour (11A.M. to 12P.M.)
at this meeting we will be discussing our plans for the rest of the semester including: tournaments, meet ups, etc. We will also have a small Pokemon quiz where you can win Pokemon prizes! We hope to see you there!

Join the Crawford Alumni Center on April 5 for a Wine & Waterfalls Tour with Tour the Upper Cumberland! The tour starts at Northfield Vineyards, then it’s off to Burgess Falls and Twin Falls, Rock Island, where we’ll enjoy a Foglight Foodhouse boxed lunch by the Caney Fork River. After lunch we travel to Lost Creek Falls to wrap up our day. The cost of your ticket includes wine, water, snacks on the bus, transportation to three waterfalls, and lunch from Foglight. The best part? Our very own Professor of History Michael “Birdie” Birdwell will be our tour guide. “I Heart Tech Students” Campaign Supports Students Affected by Mar. 3 Tornadoes
On Mar. 10, Tennessee Tech kicked off the “I Heart Tech Students” fundraising campaign to raise money for programs that assist students during challenging times. This has never been more evident than right now. The Mar. 3 tornadoes affected many members of the Tennessee Tech family. The campaign will focus on raising funds for the Eagle Assistance Grant, Counseling Center, Accessible Education Center, Food Pantry, and Veterans Center. All of these areas support students during tough times. While many across the country have supported the Cookeville-Putnam County Tornado Relief Fund, alumni have also reached out to ask how they can help Tech students directly. Are you interested in Co-op? Have you already accepted a Co-op position for summer 2020? Be sure you attend the FINAL Co-op Meetup of the semester in Brown Hall 236 at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 11.
Any student interested in accepting a Cooperative Education position OR has already accepted a position with an employer will need to attend a Co-op Meetup. The Co-op Meetup will explain the eligibility guidelines for enrolling in the Cooperative Education Program, which went into effect July 1, 2019 for all students.

March Food Drive – Support P.A.T.H.
Hey Tech students! During the month of March, Scholars United for the Homeless will be receiving canned food donations for Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (P.A.T.H.). P.A.T.H. provides assistance to individuals with severe mental illnesses who are homeless or who are at imminent risk of losing their homes. Donation boxes can be found on the main floor of the Roaden University Center. This food drive will run through March 27, 2020. Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Dusty Henson, TTU Chemical Engineering
TTU Chemical Engineering Major Dusty Henson will be giving the seminar this week. His talk, Negative Ion Photoelectron Spectroscopy of Polyaromatic Anions: Radical Vibrational Structure and Gas-Phase Acidity Determination, will describe his study, via the technique of photoelectron spectroscopy, of a class of organic compounds that play a central role in both biochemistry and astrochemistry. The seminar will be geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend! Visit the seminar webpage to see the full Spring 2020 schedule.

College of Business Student Accepts Rural Reimagined Internship with UCDD
TN Tech’s Rural Reimagined is proud to announce that Emily Buckner, a Human Resources major, has accepted an internship with the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) and the Human Resources Agency (UCHRA). Through the internship, Emily will use her organizational and communication skills to collaborate on-site with UCDD’s leadership to identify and develop internships within the organization. This internship is a great way for Emily to become involved with Rural Reimagined and to gain real-world experience, while it will also create RR internships for other students in the future! UCDD’s Rebecca Smith states, “We are delighted about this new phase of our partnership with Tennessee Tech and look forward to creating new opportunities for students to further their education through hands-on learning.” She adds, “Collaboration through the Rural Reimagined Grand Challenge will make it possible for our agencies to recruit and develop highly qualified employees who are passionate about excellence and serving others.” Regarding her internship, Emily states, “This opportunity is not only going to benefit me in using my skills in a real-world environment but in return, I will be helping my fellow colleagues in their professional lives, one of the main goals I have for my career!” Stay tuned for updates on Rural Reimagined. Upper Cumberland Regional Science and Engineering Fair:General Volunteers Needed
Looking for Volunteers: General Help
The Oakley STEM Center is very excited to host the 65th Regional Science and Engineering fair on April 3rd, 2020. This year, we are already expecting over 200 students in the Senior division (9-12th grade) and will be hosting a middle school division with close to 100 students from our region. We are currently recruiting volunteers to help set-up the fair, direct students and families, and clean-up when everything is over. This is a great way for some of the Upper Cumberland’s best math, science, and engineering students to meet and interact with University students and faculty.
The Science Fair itself will be held in the Hyder Burks Agriculture Pavilion from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 3, 2020. Help is also requested for set-up and clean-up.
