Joshua Leonard: The Art of Diversity
Join Intercultural Affairs and the School of Art, Craft & Design as they host Illustrator Joshua Leonard on Monday, October 16 at 6 pm in Derryberry Auditorium.
Joshua Leonard is an illustrator, concept artist, character designer, and traditional 2D animator, specializing in creating compelling, inclusive, and diverse characters that are often underrepresented while also creating relatable stories. His focus on disabilities, neurodiversity, and representation has had a significant positive impact on youth around the world. He graduated top of his class from the Art Institute of Atlanta with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in Media Arts & Animation.
He’s done illustration work for major companies including Netflix, Nickelodeon, Sony Immersive, Jim Henson Company, Hillman Grad Productions, 9 Story, Baobab Studios, and Disney. His greatest work is his creation, Team Supreme, which is about a group of young superheroes who each have intellectual or physical disabilities that are their superpowers. Gold Career Readiness Workshop on October 12: Top Ten Interview Tips
Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, October 12, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Gold Career Readiness Workshop! Russ Coughenour, Director, from the Center for Career Development will guide you through the top tips to have a successful interview!

Course Evaluation Information Session with IARE – October 27
Get the most out of your course evaluation reports. The Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, & Effectiveness (IARE) will be hosting a session on the University’s course evaluation process. This session will provide an overview of the evaluation tool known as IDEA and the role of instructors in selecting the Student Learning Objectives most appropriate for their courses. When instructors select the most relevant objectives for their courses, course reports provide a better evaluation for what occurs in the classroom. Best practices will also be shared for garnering student participation and good response rates. Join us for this online training session on Friday, October 27th at 12PM.

Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing Party October 14!
The Physics Department would like to invite you to the viewing of the Annular Solar Eclipse on October 14th, 2023. Cookeville will be getting a partial (about 50%) eclipse during this time. Weather permitting, the viewing will take place on the Lab Science Commons (LSC) Lawn from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be eclipse glasses provided until supplies last and we will be making pinhole viewers. Everyone (faculty, staff, community members) is welcome! Apply for Next Year’s Scholarships by December 15
The general scholarship application for the 2024-2025 academic year is available now through Friday, Dec. 15, 2023. All students must complete this application in order to be eligible for over 700 Tennessee Tech scholarships for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 terms.
If you have a renewable departmental scholarship, you have to re-apply every year in order for that scholarship to be renewed!

Let us know what skills and knowledge Tennessee Tech graduates should have to best prepare them for their intended careers and their future as informed citizens of the state, region, nation and world. Please encourage your students to attend the meetings held specifically for students. The next student town hall will be Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. in Foundation Hall 161.

Scholarship Application for 2024-2025 Now Open
The general TN Tech Scholarship Application for the 2024-2025 academic year is available now through Friday, Dec. 15, 2023. All students must complete this application in order to be eligible for Tennessee Tech scholarships in the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 terms. Due to the wide variety of scholarships available, it is in every student’s best interest to complete their scholarship application every year.
The Scholarship Office encourages campus offices and departments to help remind students to apply for scholarships. Please print and/or distribute the 2024-2025 Scholarship Application Flier in your area as needed. Digital signs should become available to digital sign managers soon. Students can be directed to www.tntech.edu/scholarships/apply for instructions.
