Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, September 21, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Tech Pride Room (1st floor) for this Gold Career Readiness Workshop! Russ Coughenour, Director, from the Center for Career Development will guide you through the interview basics!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Distress Protocol Workshop
All Academic Affairs faculty and staff are invited to join the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ) and the Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center for a workshop on the student distress protocol on Tuesday, September 26th from 3-4:30 PM in RUC 101, Tech Pride Room.
The Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center is committed to providing resources to ensure that a student in crisis is responded to quickly, responsibly, and in an empathetic manner. A distressed student may also display disruptive behaviors, which may be covered by student conduct policy, and not be addressed directly by this protocol. This protocol is designed to provide guidance to the campus community. It defines how to:

- Recognize the signs that a student may be in distress.

Establish a consistent framework for responding to the student in distress.

Tech Talk: Study Abroad Showcase
The College of Business is excited to announce that its Tech Talk Series will kick off Sept. 21st in Foundation Hall 238 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This series edition will focus on the College’s Study Abroad programs. The talk will be hosted by Dr. Richard Rand and Dr. Jaime Williams and will have student testimonials about their study abroad experiences. Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Cricket Bergner and Ezekiel Vespie
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will be given by physics majors Cricket Bergner and Ezekiel Vespie. In their talk Decay Study of 33Mg and 35Mg for Level Scheme Development, they will describe their work this summer analyzing the nuclear decay of two isotopes of magnesium. In particular, they will describe analysis techniques they learned that enabled them to see new transitions in the decay chain of these isotopes. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend! For questions, contact aholley@tntech.edu

Open Water Swim Event
The Tennessee Tech Swim Club is hosting an open water swim event on Saturday, September 23 at 10:45 am at Floating Mill Park on Center Hill Lake. Triathletes, competitive swimmers or any strong swimmers interested are encouraged to join us for it. There will be lifeguards and kayakers serving as safety lookouts throughout the swim. We will have a cookout at the park after the swim for those that attend. Chess Table Dedication Ceremony
Join us as we dedicate the chess table in front of Henderson Hall to Professor Emeritus and former Dean Paul Semmes this Thursday, September 21, 11 a.m. on Centennial Plaza in front of Henderson Hall.
Dr. Semmes was a physics faculty member for 33 years, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 6 years and Dean of the College for 14 years. In addition, Dr. Semmes was faculty leader of Tennessee Tech’s chess club for 28 years and is still an avid player.
Come out this Thursday to celebrate Dean Semmes, play chess and enjoy a treat! Tennessee Tech’s Chess Club will join to play chess and celebrate.

College of Arts & Sciences Stonecipher Lecture on Sept. 25
The College of Arts and Sciences, in celebration of this year’s Stonecipher Lecture, will host the University of Pennsylvania’s Adelheid Voskuhl for a lecture at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 25th, in Stonecipher Lecture Hall 113. The topic of the event, which is free and open to the public, is “Engineers and the World They Made: Machines, Policies – and Social Status in the Industrial Boom.”
