May Graduates your cap & gown is now available for pick up. Distribution will begin with Grad Fair/Senior Salute in the Multipurpose Room, 2nd floor of the University Center, on the following dates.
Tuesday, March 1st 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Wednesday, March 2nd 10:00 AM – 2:00 PMIf you are unable to attend Grad Fair/Senior Salute you will be able to pick up your cap & gown in the University Store beginning Monday, March 7th through graduation. University Store hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM; Sunday CLOSED

Cyber Threats – Shields Up!
With geopolitical tensions increasing, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a bulletin recommending all organizations to be especially vigilant during this time. Cyber threats are a common component in multi-front attacks, and universities are equally at risk of being the focus for one of these attacks. https://www.cisa.gov/shields-up
What can you do to help?
- Keep an eye out for any unexpected or unusual network behavior.
- Make sure any personal devices are current on their OS and app updates.
- Scrutinize all emails from senders you do not recognize. (Over 90% of cyber attacks begin with an email.)
- Report suspicious emails with the Phish Alert button in Outlook (or by forwarding it to abuse@tntech.edu).

I Heart Tech Students Spotlight: College of Education
The College of Education seeks support of the P-16 Diversity Partnership through this year’s I Heart Tech Students fundraising initiative.
The Tennessee State Department of Education has mandated a 22% ethnic and racial diversity of our teacher candidates, and the College of Education is also working to increase diversity in the exercise science and psychology student populations. With additional resources, the College can facilitate more campus visits, offer more educational opportunities, and enroll an increased number of diverse students.

Black Women in Sports and the Struggle for Respect, Feb. 28th, 6pm Johnson Hall
Black women in sports have historically faced double discrimination due to their gender and race. A number of Black female athletes have emerged as trailblazers in their particular sports over the years, from track and field and tennis to figure skating and basketball. Unfortunately, these women and their accomplishments are largely forgotten or ignored. This presentation will highlight some of their unique contributions to sports and the struggles they had to overcome on the road to victory. Join in at 6pm on February 28th in Johnson Hall Room 103. The Co-op Meetup will explain the eligibility guidelines for enrolling in the Cooperative Education Program, which went into effect July 1, 2019 for all students. Pre-registration to enroll in the Co-op Program is now required and attending a Co-op Meetup is your first step! The Scarlett and Murphy’s Business Professional Clothes Closet provides students with resources and training to prepare them for job interviews, networking opportunities, presentations and conference participation. Stocked with new and gently used professional attire, Scarlett and Murphy’s allows students to check out clothing for an event or for the entire semester. The students who staff Scarlett and Murphy’s also provide guidance on acceptable attire. But Scarlett and Murphy’s needs donor support to purchase hard-to-fit sizes and assist with dry cleaning and alternations.

University Advancement Welcomes Brianna Young
Brianna Young has been named assistant director for financial services in University Advancement. Brianna graduated from Tennessee Tech in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and earned her MBA in 2015 from Tech as well. She previously worked in the Tennessee Tech Business Office as a financial management analyst. Most recently, she worked for the Tennessee Board of Regents as the sole accountant for four Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) locations. Brianna will begin her new role at Tech on Feb. 28.
