  • Submit Spring Book Orders to the Bookstore by Nov. 7th

    Hello!

    We had a few hiccups but AIP (Adoptions Insights Portal) now has the Spring semester courses loaded. Please have professors or department admins go to AIP and submit book orders for the Spring semester. Remember, that AIP is accessible through Tech Express.  Students begin registering for classes on Nov. 8th. HEOA (Higher Education Opportunity Act) requires that students be able to see what books are required for their class when they register. We are asking that all book orders be submitted by Nov. 7th. This will not only meet the HEOA guidelines but helps us with ordering used books for spring classes. As you know there is a quick turnaround between the end of fall term and the start of spring term. As soon as we receive your book order we will begin sourcing for used books. Ordering of custom books begins on Nov. 8th. and we will begin ordering books from publishers Nov. 15th. Some of you may have already emailed your book information to Shannon. That information is still being loaded into AIP and should be visible by Monday, Nov. 1st.

    Purple Career Readiness Workshop on Nov 2: How to Make a Presentation

    Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, Nov. 2, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop! Scott Christen, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication Studies, will be showing the best ways to effectively communicate your message through a successful presentation.

     

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

     

    To attend virtually, access the TEAMS link in Handshake Events. To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation, and make sure that your camera is turned on during your attendance.

      Hold a food drive for holiday foods (Example: Stuffing, mashed potatoes, Yams, Cranberry Sauce, Corn bread, canned pineapples, cake mix, pie filling, Pie crust, gravy, cream of mushroom/chicken, etc.)

    Come and speak French at conversation hour

    Come and practice your French on Monday, November 1, from 6-7 pm at Au Bon Pain in the library.  Organized and run by students, French Conversation Hour is open to all speakers of French, regardless of level, and uses games and activities to help everyone get involved.  The atmosphere is fun, laid-back, and designed to help you feel as comfortable as possible speaking French.

    President and CEO of AMIkids says Tech football prepared him to be a leader

    As president and chief executive officer of AMIkids, Inc., Mike Thornton, `89 business management, leads the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth develop into responsible and productive citizens. For nearly 50 years, AMIkids has helped more than 150,000 kids across the country by allowing them to discover their full potential and guiding them on a path to a positive future. It’s hard to imagine where many of those individuals might be today without AMIkids and without Thornton at the helm. And it was at Tennessee Tech — in the classroom and on the football field — that Thornton first learned the skills to be a leader.  Thornton has chosen to give back to his alma mater by making a significant financial commitment to Tech’s Football Operations Center.

  • RHA Annual Fall Fun Fest

    RHA Annual Fall Fun Fest

    Join the Residence Hall Association for our annual Fall Fun Fest on Saturday, October 30th on the Main Quad.  We will have food, games, pumpkin painting, screen printing, a haunted house, a truck-or-treat, and more.  The Trunk-or-Treat will be held from 5-7pm, the haunted house will be from 8-11pm, and everything else will be held from 5-8pm.  This is open and free to all residents and the community and appropriate costumes are encouraged!  Please bring your own shirt to screenprint!  We will be hosting a canned food drive at the haunted house for the Tech Food Pantry!

    The trunk-or-treat will begin set up at 4:00pm and start at 5:00pm in the Crawford Parking Lot.  The trunk-or-treat will be open to the public and we encourage inviting Putnam County residents to attend this event.  This year our theme will be Disney/Pixar.  We ask that each organization that wants to attend the event, propose a kid-friendly theme within this category and fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/pYYFewgKts .

    Friday Focus sessions are designed to provide just-in-time resources and information for faculty throughout the semester. Each session focuses on diverse resources, tools, and programs available to support faculty and/or student success. This week’s session will be focused on the QEP program- Tech’s Quality Enhancement Plan. Participants will leave the session with a better understanding of the QEP program, as well as the process for applying for a QEP grant and overview of the QEP program as a whole.

  • Lifelong friends lead fundraising initiative for Tech football

    Lifelong friends lead fundraising initiative for Tech football

    Decades of friendship and a love for Golden Eagle Athletics have inspired two Tennessee Tech alumni to partner in leading fundraising efforts for a Football Operations Center on campus.

    Ottis Phillips and M. Dianne Murphy grew up in Cookeville, attended the same church and were in the same high school class. They also experienced firsthand what it’s like to play for the Golden Eagles: Phillips was a member of Tech’s football team and Murphy played basketball, volleyball and tennis. Now, they are focused on helping the next generation of student-athletes, using the knowledge and experience they gained at Tech and in their careers to establish a new facility for Tech football.

  • Campus invited to submit fundraising needs for I Heart Tech Students

    Campus invited to submit fundraising needs for I Heart Tech Students

    Does your department need additional funding? If so, the Crawford Alumni Center is here to help! We can ask alumni and friends to support your cause during the 2022 I Heart Tech Students (IHTS) initiative. To participate, you’ll be required to submit a photo and/or video that illustrates the need for support and a short paragraph describing how donor funds can make a difference. All causes must support students directly. Then, for six weeks beginning Feb. 14, we will encourage alumni and friends to support the causes listed on the IHTS website. If you’d like to participate, you must submit your cause, video/photo and text no later than Dec. 10 via the following online form: I Heart Tech Students Project Submission
