Black Women in Sports and the Struggle for Respect, Feb. 28th, 6pm Johnson Hall

394

Black women in sports have historically faced double discrimination due to their gender and race. A number of Black female athletes have emerged as trailblazers in their particular sports over the years, from track and field and tennis to figure skating and basketball. Unfortunately, these women and their accomplishments are largely forgotten or ignored. This presentation will highlight some of their unique contributions to sports and the struggles they had to overcome on the road to victory. Join in at 6pm on February 28th in Johnson Hall Room 103.
