Resource Availability and Course Reserves in the Library
If you use library eBooks, streaming content, databases, or journals in your class, please verify those sources are still available for you and your students. If you have questions about electronic resources, please contact Stephanie Adams. Also, we began an annual course reserves inventory this past summer. Items students have not checked out in over two years are removed from reserves. If you have questions about course reserves, please contact Sharon Holderman.

Non-Traditional Student Organization Meeting
Join the Non-Traditional Student Organization for its first get together of the fall semester on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in Henderson 214. Meet and greet other non-traditional students, help us plan a group outing, hear what’s ahead for the rest of the semester, including guest speakers, and more.
Everyone is welcome! Nontraditional students are defined as being independent for financial aid purposes, having one or more dependents, being a single caregiver, not having a traditional high school diploma, delaying post-secondary enrollment, attending school part-time, and/or being employed full time. We encourage faculty and staff who are also taking classes, and graduate students who are on campus.

Auditions for Autumn Musical at Backdoor Playhouse
World Premiere. Crawlspace: A True-Crime Musical Thriller
Roles are available for 17 to 24 performers. The principle role of “JOHN” has been cast. Casting is open to all interested people. Minority actors are strongly encouraged. No experience necessary. NON-SINGING ROLES ARE AVAILABLE!
Please prepare a short singing selection. Auditions will consist of cold-readings from the script.

Crawlspace is based on the story of a convicted serial killer. Although inspired by his own words and the public record of his life and crimes, this is a work of historical fiction. Certain names and identifying details have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals. Fictional characters have been added, and liberties have been taken that differentiate this work from the true-life events. The musical is a theatrical re-imagining of the story and horror of the case and those who suffered in its wake.

Graduate Students Fall 2022 Important Dates
Attention Graduate Students: There are several VERY important dates that we want to make you aware of:
1. AUGUST 31 – last day to ADD a class and last day to WITHDRAW without a grade.
2. SEPTEMBER 1 – Graduation Application. You must apply to graduate well ahead of time! If you plan to graduate in May of 2023, you must apply by September 1 of this year. The graduation application may be accessed in your Degree Works or Eagle accounts.
(ALERT – if you plan to graduate this fall – and you missed the application deadline of June 1- contact our office for assistance, 931-372-3233.)
2. SEPTEMBER 27 – Thesis/Dissertation workshop. On September 27 at 10:00 AM in Derryberry auditorium.

Academic Affairs Awards Reception

Poll Everywhere Workshop
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning for our next Tuesday workshop on August 30th at 11 AM. Poll Everywhere is an instructional technology tool that allows you to conduct formative assessments, foster student engagement through live polling, and increase the productivity of class discussions by providing an inclusive and easy-to-use discussion platform. In this session, we discuss how to increase student engagement in your classroom through using Poll Everywhere, helpful topics to get started, and more. Budget Office – September Training
Budget Office training sessions for September are now scheduled if anyone is interested! We will be offering each budget training twice in the month of September, and no training will be presented in October due to the October Revised Budget deadline. Below is a brief description of each training:
General Budget Training: This training helps provide a better understanding of the overall budgeting process and timelines from the university level. Other topics presented include information regarding budget revisions, revenues and expenses, budget monitoring, general guidelines, etc. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template that can be used for reconciliation purposes. This is an optional training course.
Position Control Budget Training: This training focuses specifically on topics related to position control including new position set ups, personnel action forms, budget revisions for permanent positions, how to verify permanent position funding, lapsed salary, etc. This is an optional training course.

Class of 2026 encouraged to participate in Tech Football’s Running of the Freshem
The Class of 2026 is invited and encouraged to take part in one of Tennessee Tech Athletics’ greatest traditions of the past decade, the annual Running of the Freshmen.
Each year, at the first home football game, TTU President Phil Oldham leads the charge of all freshmen students onto the field prior to kick-off, paving the way for the Golden Eagle football team. The tradition began just prior to the first football game of the 2013 season with the first-ever Running of the Freshmen.
The University’s incoming freshmen are invited to join in the event Saturday, Sept. 10, joining President Oldham in ushering the 2022 Golden Eagle football team onto the field prior to kickoff for the home opener against Texas A&M-Commerce. The freshmen – Tennessee Tech’s class of 2026 – will assemble inside the northeast corner of the stadium at Gate 12 for the run by 5:20 p.m. CT. A limited number of free t-shirts will be available as well. Freshmen are encouraged to show up as early as possible to secure their free t-shirt.

This Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm, join WCTE in Downtown Cookeville as they showcase documentaries from the southeast. These award-winning documentaries will be accompanied with talk-back panels with the film creators themselves. How-To: Preferred Name Change for Students
Does iLearn say Chrysanthemum but you go by Chris? Stop the confusion, and change it! Students can request to use their preferred first name through the Registrar’s office.
On this page, click the accordion tab to open “Student Records Forms” and the third gold link option is “Preferred Name Change.” Just fill out the form. Once this change is submitted and processed, people can get their EagleCards re-printed with their preferred name, they’ll just have to pay the re-printing fee of $10.
