Join Creative Writing Club!
The TTU Creative Writing Club meets the first Tuesday of each month in room 216A of Henderson Hall at 11 a.m. All majors are welcome. Our club encourages writers of fiction, poetry, and essays. Course Evaluation Information Session with IARE – October 14
Get the most out of your course evaluation reports. The Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, & Effectiveness (IARE) will be hosting a session on the University’s course evaluation process. This session will provide an overview of the evaluation tool known as IDEA and the role of instructors in selecting the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) most appropriate for their courses. When instructors select the most relevant SLOs for their courses, course reports provide a better evaluation for what occurs in the classroom. Best practices will also be shared for garnering student participation and good response rates. Join us for this online training session on Friday, October 14th at 12PM.

Gold Career Readiness PART TWO Workshop on October 4!
Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, October 4, beginning at 11 am in Clement Hall 212 for this Gold Career Readiness PART TWO Workshop! This workshop will feature Regions Bank, who will provide insight regarding how to create a successful budget while in college!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts toward Part Two of the Gold Career Readiness application for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Encourage Students to Apply for 2023-2024 Scholarships
The general TN Tech Scholarship Application for the 2023-2024 academic year is available now through Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022. All students must complete this application in order to be eligible for Tennessee Tech scholarships in the Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024 terms. Due to the wide variety of scholarships available, it is in every student’s best interest to complete their scholarship application every year.
The Scholarship Office encourages campus offices and departments to help remind students to apply for scholarships. Please print and/or distribute the 2023-2024 Scholarship Application Flier in your area as needed. Digital signs should become available to digital sign managers soon. Students can be directed to www.tntech.edu/scholarships/apply for instructions.

Cognitive Load Workshop (Replay)
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 4th, for our next workshop, Cognitive Load. Cognitive load relates to the amount of information that working memory can hold simultaneously. Instruction methods should avoid overwhelming students’ mental capacities and focus on retention practices. In this session, we will discuss memory, retrieval, and overload. Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Chris Swindell, TTU Electrical and Computer
This week in the Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar, TTU Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate student Chris Swindell will describe work he did as part of the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) summer program at ORNL. In his presentation A SULI Summer Experience at ORNL: Data-aware Optimization of PARADYSE, Chris will talk about his experience in the SULI program and how he tested data-aware techniques to significantly enhance the efficiency of a primary computational bottleneck associated with the analysis of neutron scattering data used to study materials. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

We look forward to having families enjoy time together while exploring new STEM concepts through hands-on activities.
A parent/guardian must remain with the student/students regardless of age as per Tennessee Tech minors on campus policy.

Attend the Co-op Meetup on Thursday, September 29, in Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room beginning at 11 a.m. New guidelines, which went into effect Fall 2022 for engineering student enrollment, will be shared.
