The Alison Piepmeier Outstanding Student Award
This award celebrates Piepmeier’s legacy of fierce feminism by recognizing an exceptional Tennessee Tech student whose research, activism and/or outreach advances gender equity. It acknowledges a student who shows a passion for learning, goes the extra mile to assist others, and contributes significantly to campus and/or the local community. Nominate here.

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Richard Mitchell, TTU Physics
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will feature work from Physics Major Richard Mitchell. His talk, Integral Method for Fitting Nuclear Decay Chains, will present updates on his development of a new technique for determining radioactive half-lives from complex, low-statistics data sets. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

National Chemistry Week: Oct 12th-17th
Join the Student Members of the American Chemical Society in celebrating National Chemistry Week from Oct 12th-17th!
Our first event is the Green Chemistry Talk on October 12th at 6:30 p.m. This event will be held in LSC 1211. Come learn about the 12 principles of green chemistry!
In collaboration with the Office of Sustainability, there will be a Sustainability Day Tabling Event hosted on Centennial Plaza on October 13th from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Learn about different ways to live more sustainability.
The Mole Day race will also be held on October 13th from 5-7 p.m. in the HOOP. Come walk a mole of zeptometers(602 m) around the top of the Hoop.

Psychology-Fright Night With Uncle Doug
TTU’s Psychology department is hosting a spooktacular fundraiser you don’t want to miss, at Matthew Daniel’s Hall. All proceeds of this fundraiser will be used for psychology students to display their research at conferences. Admissions are $5 per person, including popcorn and an eerie experience from Uncle Doug. Concessions and merchandise will also be sold at the event. Come out and show your support to fellow students on October 13th and October 27th and bring a friend. This event will be starting at 6:30 P.M., going in intervals of 30 minutes, with groups of 10 people. The last group will be going at 9:30 P.M. Participants must be at least 18 years old. 2022 Fall Celebration
TN Tech College of Business will host the legendary Dick Vitale at the Fall Celebration on Thursday, October 28, at DelMonaco Winery. Following a college and NBA coaching career, Dick Vitale joined the ESPN network and has since become the game’s top analyst and ambassador. His thorough knowledge of basketball is brought forth in an enthusiastic, passionate, and sometimes controversial style. “Awesome, baby” and “diaper dandy” are just two of the many Vitale-isms to take a life of their own. He has helped raise over $130 million for cancer research through the V Foundation and established scholarships for many organizations. Advanced tickets are required. Students may purchase tickets for $15. Until October 13, faculty, staff, alums, and guests may purchase tickets for $75. Late registration tickets after October 13 will be $95. Budget Office – November Training
Budget Office training sessions for November are now scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:
General Budget Training: This training helps provide a better understanding of the overall budgeting process and timelines from the university level. Other topics presented include information regarding budget revisions, revenues and expenses, budget monitoring, general guidelines, etc. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template that can be used for reconciliation purposes. This is an optional training course.
Position Control Budget Training: This training focuses specifically on topics related to position control including new position set ups, personnel action forms, budget revisions for permanent positions, how to verify permanent position funding, lapsed salary, etc. This is an optional training course.

Annual Civil & Environmental Engineering Homecoming Pig Roast
The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department is hosting its 11th Annual Homecoming Pig Roast in collaboration with our ASCE chapter. We encourage all students & alumni to come out for food and fellowship!
The Pig Roast will be the Friday of Homecoming weekend, November 4th. Dinner will be served from 5:30-7:30pm at the East part of the stadium just outside of the Steel Bridge shop.
We will have cornhole and ASCE will be auctioning off some of their old trophies!
