    General Complaint Reporting

    In addition to the Fraud, Waste, or Abuse reporting form, Tennessee Tech also has a form on Internal Audit’s website for confidentially reporting complaints about accounting, internal control, auditing matters, code of conduct, and other related issues that are NOT fraud, waste, or abuse. Complainants remain COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS to Internal Audit unless the last section of the form is completed. General complaints received on this form are routed to appropriate campus departments for follow-up.

    The form can be submitted online or completed, printed, and mailed to Internal Audit, PO Box 5154, Cookeville, TN 38505.

    Engagement Strategies

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning for the Engagement Strategies Workshop on Tuesday, July 12th at 11am. In this session, we explore increasing attendance by designing for student interaction with the instructor, the content, and with one another. We will discuss including participation as a graded item, activities that encourage student motivation, and creating a welcoming classroom culture and environment.   • Budget Office – July Training

    Budget Office training sessions for July are now scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:

    General Budget Training: This training helps provide a better understanding of the overall budgeting process and timelines from the university level. Other topics presented include information regarding budget revisions, revenues and expenses, budget monitoring, general guidelines, etc. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.

    Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.

    Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template that can be used for reconciliation purposes. This is an optional training course.

    Position Control Budget Training: This training focuses specifically on topics related to position control including new position set ups, personnel action forms, budget revisions for permanent positions, how to verify permanent position funding, lapsed salary, etc. This is an optional training course.

    Guidelines to Student Employee Compensation (Non-Federal Work-Study)

    The Guidelines for Student Employee Compensation have been established to provide consistent classification and compensation for all student employees throughout the University.  The position level and salary that is selected for a student employment position should be based on job responsibilities, supervision needed, and level of expertise required for the job.  These guidelines are effective as of July 1, 2022, and will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary based on internal and external factors that may include but are not limited to changes to minimum wage, market, etc.

    The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is pleased to welcome Ms. Latisha Scarlett as our newest team member.  Latisha will be handling all discounts, waivers, and graduate assistantships.  In addition, Latisha will serve as a valuable member of our customer service team.  Latisha is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University and previously worked as a lab instructor and teaching assistant under Human Ecology.  We are very excited to have Latisha as part of our team!

    We have more tomatoes and produce available for purchase from Oakley Farm! This week, we have Sungold and Roma tomatoes available for $2 per pound. We also have cucumbers available for pickup. Cucumbers are two for $1.

  • Critical Thinking (Replay)

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning for a replay of our Critical Thinking workshop. In this session, we will discuss the importance of critical thinking as it prepares students for a lifetime of thinking and learning independently. We will cover ways to implement critical thinking exercises in the classroom, knowing what you know (metacognition), in-context learning, and inductive / deductive reasoning.   • Standard Mileage Rate Increase Effective 7/1/2022

    The IRS recently announced that it will increase the standard mileage rate for qualified business driving for the second half of 2022. Beginning July 1, 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile. Tennessee Tech follows the State of Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration standard reimbursement rate schedule, which has recently been updated to adopt the IRS business standard mileage rate. We will monitor this rate regularly as fuel costs change and update the Chrome River travel expense management system accordingly.     The ParTNers for Health Wellness Program is a voluntary wellness program available to all state and higher education employees and spouses enrolled in health coverage. Each participant will be able to earn up to $500/year ($250/year for the eligible member and $250/year for eligible spouses). If you want to earn the cash incentive for completing a biometric screening you can attend our onsite screening.
