  • Creative Inquiry Summer Experience (CISE) Showcase

    The CISE Showcase is the capstone experience of Tech’s CISE program. On Tuesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 25, 35 undergraduate students from 13 different departments will present their findings from their summer research and creative work experiences. Please join these students and their faculty mentors in LSC 1211 from 11 AM to noon each day. The CISE Showcase and the CISE program are sponsored by Tech’s Quality Enhancement Program.     Tennessee Tech Flute Choir performs at the National Flute Convention in Chicago

    The Tennessee Tech Flute Choir, directed by Dr. Mary Matthews, was invited to perform at the 50th Anniversary convention of the National Flute Association this past week. The ensemble performed on Friday, August 12 at the Hilton Downtown Convention Center in Chicago, IL. Current flute studio members were joined by flute studio alumni from 2020, 2021, and 2022 to perform works by Nicole Chamberlain, Gary Schocker, Sonny Burnette, and Crawford Gates. In addition, junior Flute Performance major Lucas Schaefer was selected by audition to perform with the All-Collegiate Flute Choir at the convention on Sunday, August 14. Performers included Rachael Lawson, Calista Richlen, Joanna Humberd, Autum Winston, Mackenzie Hargis, Kent Mathis, Lily Summey, Lucas Schaefer, Callie Brooks, Lelia Mollohan, Ryleigh Templeton, Isa Yelamo-Cockcroft, Bethany Brock, and Angie Ascencio.

    The ParTNers for Health Wellness Program is a voluntary wellness program available to all state and higher education employees and spouses enrolled in health coverage. Each participant will be able to earn up to $500/year ($250/year for the eligible member and $250/year for eligible spouses). If you want to earn the cash incentive for completing a biometric screening you can attend our onsite screening.

  • Tobacco quit aids available to all health plan members

    The state’s prescription drug coverage provides free tobacco quit aids to members who want to stop using tobacco products.
    The following quit aids are FREE under the pharmacy benefit:

    • Chantix and its generic, Varenicline
    • Bupropion (generic Zyban)
    • Over-the-counter generic nicotine replacement products, including gum, patches and lozenges
    • Nicotrol oral and nasal inhalers

    Members may receive up to two, 12-week courses of treatment per calendar year (up to 168 days of treatment) with no lifetime maximum.
    For members to obtain over-the-counter products at no cost, a prescription from their doctor is required.
    Quit aid prescriptions for 30-day supplies can be filled at participating network pharmacies, while 90-day supplies can be obtained at participating 90-day retail pharmacies or through Caremark mail order.

    Tennessee Tech Minecraft Server

    Join the Tennessee Tech Minecraft Server!

    We are a group of Tech students joined under a common interest of playing Minecraft. The server IP is ttumc.tech, but the server is whitelisted so you need to join our Discord at discord.ttumc.tech 

    The server runs on a plugin that is coded by Tech students and the server supports both Bedrock and Java Edition cross-play. The game mode is survival multiplayer or SMP and we do not allow griefing or theft. Feel free to join the Discord or email me at jtjones49@tntech.edu to get whitelisted and play on the server with other Tech Students.

  • Cognitive Load Workshop

    Cognitive Load Workshop

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning on August 23rd at 11 AM for our next workshop on Cognitive Load. Cognitive load relates to the amount of information that working memory can hold at one time. Instruction methods should avoid overwhelming students’ mental capacities and focus more on retention practices. In this session, we will discuss memory, retrieval, and overload.     Bonjour tout le monde! I hope that you all had a good summer! Do you have a passion in learning French? Do you want to enjoy the French language and culture without the stress of a class? Well then Avant-Garde is for you, and anyone is welcome to join! Our first meeting will be on August 23rd, during Dead Hour and the meeting will be held in OKLY 219. During this meeting, we will be electing officers for the 2022-2023 academic year and will be discussing what we will do as a group during the Fall! A bientôt!

  • Parking & Transportation Extended Office Hours

    Parking & Transportation will be open for extended hours on the following dates:

    Wednesday, August 17 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Thursday, August 18 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    We will resume regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on Friday, August 19.

  • Business Office Extended Hours August 16 – 18

    The Business Office windows will be open for extended hours on August 16-18. Cashiering and Accounts Receivable will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on these days. Please note, Eagle Pay will be unavailable on August 17 from 6:00 p.m. to approximately 8 p.m. CST.

    Multicultural Affairs Welcome Back

    The Office of Multicultural Affairs annual Welcome Back is Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 at 11:am – 1:30pm in the Tech pride Room (101) in the Roaden University Center.  Some student groups will also be on Centennial Plaza (North-West side weather permitting) to greet you. All are welcome to join in the fun, bring friends, and gather information on what organizations are doing, events they are planning and sign up. See you there!

    The Office of Sponsored Programs will be hosting open forums for the candidates for Director of Sponsored Programs next week. We hope you will join us and share any questions you may have. The sessions will be in the Provost’s Conference Room from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, for Sharon Smith. The forum for Neal Hunt will be from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18. We would truly like your feedback on the candidates. Michael Aikens is chairing the search for this position. Please send your comments to him (maikens@tntech.edu). We have a number of other searches that are ongoing and we will be posting updates here on hiring and other candidates coming to campus.
