OCM to Host Contracted Vendor Promo Show
The Office of Communications and Marketing will be hosting a Contracted Vendors Promo Show on campus on Monday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Tech Pride Room of the Roaden University Center.
This is a great opportunity to see the latest promo items and network with the vendors. Invited vendors include: 4Imprint, Blink Marketing, Club Colors, Cookeville Promo, Consolidus, Harvest Promotional, Patdome Promotions and HALO Branded Solutions. Tech Printing Services will also be there to showcase new products available from the print shop.
There is no cost to attend, and lunch is provided beginning at 11 a.m. Vendors will have free product samples for everyone, and you are encouraged to bring your business cards to share and make connections. The OCM will also be doing some door prizes and other giveaways.

Campus Pulse Fall 2023
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) for our next session, Campus Pulse, on Tuesday, October 17th at 11 AM via Teams. During this session, we will present insights from data gathered through the Institutional Dashboard and our latest round of Small Group Instructional Diagnostics (SGIDs). We will also discuss common themes across campus that students identified as pertinent to their overall learning experience and hear from a panel regarding what we should know about our current student population. Apply for up to $25,000 in Grant Funding
The Rural Reimagined Faculty Grant Program offers TN Tech faculty members the opportunity to secure up to $25,000 in research funding for addressing rural challenges. All academic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal. The application window is currently open now through Friday, November 10, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. CST. Chemistry Night at Interstate Drive Chick-fil-A on Oct 17

Pie a Professor Fundraiser for National Chemistry Week- Oct. 17
The Student Members of the American Chemical Society are hosting a Pie a Professor fundraiser for National Chemistry Week on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the LSC lawn. You can purchase a mini whipped cream pie for $2 (or 3 for $5!) to throw at the participating faculty and lab teaching assistants. Medicinal Chemistry Webinar for National Chemistry Week- Oct. 16
Join the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) as we kick off National Chemistry Week! The theme this year is “The Healing Power of Chemistry” and focuses on health and medicine. On Monday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. in SLH 126 we will be showing the ACS webinar “Creating Psychedelic Analogs to Treat Neuropsychiatric Disease”. Dr. Bhattacharya Receives American Chemical Society Grant
Dr. Gourab Bhattacharya (Earth Sciences) recently received a grant from the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund. This ACS research grant will span 2 years and fund 4-6 undergraduate students.
Dr. Bhattacharya and his students will investigate the timing and intensity of paleo-thermal events within the rocks of the Cumberland Plateau. This research will enhance our comprehension of the geological evolution of the hydrocarbon-rich southern Appalachian Basin, specifically the portion situated in Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau.
Congratulations, Dr. Bhattacharya on receiving this grant, and wings up for involving undergraduates in your research!

Join us at the Native Plant Garden
Please join the Department of Biology for a fun community event on October 28 from 9-3, where volunteers will help the TN Tech Native Plant Garden prepare for upcoming construction by transplanting plants for safekeeping. Volunteers will be able to obtain free plants for their own gardens in return for assisting us. Kids crafts, hot apple cider, baked goods, botanical art, and other demonstrations will be available throughout the day. The garden is located in between Johnson and Pennebaker Halls on campus. Bacchanal 2023 is Almost Here!
Bacchanal is coming up on Sunday, October 22! Hosted by Tennessee Tech’s School of Art, Craft and Design, Bacchanal is an event for the public to gather and show support for students in School of Art, Craft and Design degree programs. Thanks to Bacchanal supporters, the School of Art, Craft and Design is able to award multiple scholarships to students each year. To date, Bacchanal has supported students with more than $150,000 in scholarships.
Bacchanal attendees can participate in a live auction of art and fine craft, created by local and national artists, Tennessee Tech alumni, faculty, students and artists in residence. Guests also enjoy fine wine, craft beer and a buffet of delicious dishes prepared by Spankies Restaurant. Live music will be performed by students from Tennessee Tech’s school of music. The event takes place at Spankies Restaurant on Sunday, October 22 from 1-5pm. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $60 or at the door for $70. Click here for more information.

Dress and Dine Event
The College of Business is excited to announce its Dress and Dine event. Dress and Dine will be held in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room on Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. This event will equip students with the necessary skills to dress and dine professionally. The admission fee is $15, and will provide dinner for the attendees. Students of all majors and classifications are welcome to attend the Dress and Dine event.
