“Spring Into Health and Wellness” Pop-Up Event Garners National Attention
In rural Tennessee, the “Spring Into Health and Wellness” Pop-Up Event, funded by a $20,398 grant from Tennessee Tech’s Rural Reimagined Faculty Grant program, aimed to enhance community well-being by addressing challenges such as food deserts and limited access to financial services. The initiative involved Tennessee Tech faculty from various fields, including Dr. Hannah Upole, Dr. Samantha Hutson, Ms. Allison Coutinho, and Ms. Amber Buckner. It also emphasized student involvement and culminated in a presentation at a national nutrition conference, with the goal of inspiring others to replicate their approach in underserved communities. This project illustrates the potential to make a positive impact on numerous rural communities and serve as a model for addressing their needs, fostering health, and wellness. So far, about 15% of our faculty have participated in a town hall. General Education impacts all students in all colleges. This is an opportunity to share your ideas of what Tech graduates are expected to know as a foundation for both their academic studies and future lives. There are only two town halls remaining.

Veterans Day Ceremony 2023
The Military and Veteran Affairs department at Tennessee Tech would like to invite you to this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony.
The ceremony to commemorate that day will be held on Tuesday, November 7 at 11am on the Main Quad in front of the Jere Whitson Building. The event will feature speakers such as President Phillip Oldham and MG (Ret) Edward F. Dorman III, as well as performances by the Brass Arts Quintet, a cannon salute, and others.
Please join us for this solemn ceremony to honor all who served. A reception will follow. All are welcome.

Holiday Festival at the Appalachian Center for Craft!
People of all ages are invited to the Appalachian Center for Craft’s Annual Holiday Festival November 18-19, 2023 at their campus in Smithville. The event will feature a 25% discount in the retail gallery and free kid’s crafts all weekend. In addition, guests on Saturday can enjoy face-painting, lunch by Logan’s Snack Shack, a student art sale and workshops. Workshops include making your own glass ornament, pyrography and dyed silk scarves. Holiday Festival workshops are ticketed and advanced registration online or by phone is encouraged. Student Admittance for the Homecoming Football Game on 11/4 vs. UT Martin
Your TTU Golden Eagle Football team takes on UT Martin for homecoming on November 4 at 1:30 p.m. Gates open one hour prior to kick-off. Students MUST SHOW their Eagle Card at the gates for admittance in to the football games. No outside food or drink are allowed in Tucker Stadium. Co-op Meetup #4 is on Thursday, November 2, in Roaden University Center Tech Pride Room beginning at 11 a.m. New guidelines, which went into effect Fall 2022 for engineering student enrollment, will be shared.
