Open Foundry Night!
Want a distraction from studying for finals? Interested in learning more about the metal casting process? Good news, the Tennessee Tech Chapter of the American Foundry Society is hosting an open foundry night on April 24th starting at 6:00pm. During this time, you will get the chance to see, and even partially participate in, the casting process as experienced personnel walk you through each step of making your own casting. Location: 110 W Tenth St, Cookeville, TN 38501. Disclaimer: Only authorized personnel can pour the metals. Closed-toed leather shoes/boots are required. Pants are required (NO SWEATPANTS OR LEGGINGS). Safety glasses will be provided but it is highly recommended you bring your own in case of a shortage. TTAC and ORED are hosting a faculty showcase on May 10th for faculty who have disclosed their research. This will be a great opportunity to showcase your work to the community and to industry leaders, as well as receive money to help fund your research. Tech Players 24-Hour Play Festival
Join the Tech Players in participating in or watching our 24 Hour Play Festival! Groups will work to write, memorize, stage, and perform short plays over a 24 hour period. The fun begins this Friday April 19th at 6 p.m. with performances on Saturday April 20th at 8 p.m. All are welcome to watch the show for free! If you are interested in participating with a group of 2-5 members, see the attached form to sign-up and get more information. Make sure your group is registered before our Friday night meeting! Gold Career Readiness Workshop on April 18!
Do you still need to attend one more workshop to complete your Gold Career Readiness Application? Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, April 18, beginning at 11 a.m. in Roaden University Center Tech Pride Room for our final Gold Career Readiness Workshop of the semester!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card with you for attendance credit.

Ghanaian Drummer and Dancer to Join the West African Drumming Ensemble
Center Stage Guest Artist Nani Agbeli, renowned Ghanaian drummer and dancer, joins the TTU West African Drumming Ensemble for an evening of traditional Ewe drum and dance on Saturday, April 20th at 7:30pm in Wattenbarger Auditorium. Nani is highly regarded for his performances that showcase his energy, precision, and athleticism. His family, known for their excellence in drumming, dancing, arts, culture, and history, originates from the Volta region of Ghana, West Africa. This concert is free and open to the public. Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar
This Friday’s seminar will feature Mateo Cacheiro (TTU Physics), Luke Chapman (TTU Electrical Engineering), Emma Krebs, (TTU Physics/Mathematics), and Katherine Smith (Cookeville High School) who will each describe some of their recent research work. Titles and abstracts for the presentations can be found here. The seminar will be at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are encouraged to attend! For questions, contact aholley@tntech.edu

The School of Music and Golden Eagle Marching Band are pleased to share the announcement of our upcoming color guard auditions. Auditions will take place on-campus on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Prospective members must have prior experience spinning a flag. Scholarships are available!

Technical Editing Students Collaborate with iFixit during QEP Project.
Both undergraduate and graduate students taking Technical Editing this semester collaborated with iFixit as part of a creative-inquiry-enhanced QEP Project. Course professor Dr. Kristin Pickering (kpickering@tntech.edu) guided the students’ participation in the iFixit Project, which involved students in creating and editing replacement guides for a laptop, game controller, and robotic vacuum. These guides contribute to the “right-to-repair” movement and help users repair their own devices, rather than contribute to the growing, global e-waste problem. Students also wrote proposals, troubleshooting guides, and device pages for the Project.
