    The Center for Career Development is looking for Career Ambassadors

    The Center for Career Development is looking for part-time student employees to fill Career Ambassador positions.  These positions are responsible for assisting with the department’s programs and events including organization and execution.  We are also looking for one student that can offer basic IT support.  These positions will start in August 2021.

    Qualities: 

        • Have a cumulative QPA of 2.5 or better.
        • Enrolled at Tennessee Tech University as an undergraduate student.
        • Maintain high regard and attitude for the University & scholarship.
        • Possess great interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
        • Detail-oriented and organization skills are a must.
        • Integrity, punctuality, and dependability.
        • The ability to work both independently and as a team.
        • Proficient use of a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other programs
        • Have excellent written and oral communication skills while upholding professional etiquette.

    Provide proper customer service skills when communicating with students, parents, University faculty and staff, and employers.

    iLearn Course Analytics

    Course analytics can help provide insight into how effective course elements are, as well as the level of engagement for students. The analytics function in iLearn allows instructors to monitor class progress, content statistics, assignment statistics, and more. During this session, Lauren and Kyle will cover how to find your course analytics, how to understand and use the information collected, and how to then implement that information for better course design and higher student engagement.

    LinkedIn Learning & ePortfolios Workshop

    The nature of LinkedIn is centered around professionalism, which means it provides an easy way for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to cut through any social noise. It serves as a sort of electronic portfolio in the career search process. Instructors are encouraged to assign courses related to course content/objectives for a grade or suggest courses that help students perform better on performance assessments.

    This workshop will help instructors learn to utilize one of the most valuable tools offered to faculty and students at Tennessee Tech. Specifically, the objectives of the training include:

        • Overview of LinkedIn and LinkedIn Learning
        • Discuss the use of LinkedIn Learning as an electronic portfolio for students
          Create a plan for implementing LinkedIn Learning in your course

  • Blood Drive on 3/30 and Gift Card Drawing

    The Student Nurses’ Association is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, March 30 from 10-3. The buses will be parked in front of the Volpe library.

    To schedule an appointment, please visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: TTU19. Those who register before the blood drive will be entered to win a $10 Starbucks gift card! The winner will be notified the day after the blood drive.

    Remember: one donation can save 3 lives! The American Red Cross is also screening for COVID-19 antibodies at this time.

    Consistent course evaluations offer the best opportunity for improvement in the future. In this session, Kyle Cook, one of the CITL’s Instructional Designers, will discuss formative evaluation techniques as well as the traditional summative evaluations you may be familiar with. Participants will gain a better understanding of why and how to evaluate your course, as well as practical steps to implement to start improving next semester’s course today.
