1 in 5 first-generation college students experience period poverty – the lack of access to menstruation supplies and hygiene facilities. Help the Women’s Center fight period poverty at Tech by dropping off tampons, pads, sanitary wipes, or other related items to the Women’s Center (RUC 339) throughout November. Join us for part 2 of our Video Projects series as we take a look at the how to element of creating videos. Beginning with the editing and various tools available, Dr. Beach and Ms. Story will demonstrate how to use the various video editing software available, as well as provide guidance on which media options may work best for your course.

CAFÉ Conversations: Responding to Disclosure
Join us on November 8th at 3 PM in Derryberry Hall room 200 for our next CAFÉ Conversation in the Diversity & Inclusion series, Responding to Disclosure. Dr. Helen Hunt will share information about trauma-informed responses when people are talking to you (what to say versus what not to say) as well as information about resources and how to do a “warm handoff” to get them the help they need based on what they’re wanting. This conversation is geared toward employees who don’t have confidentiality; it’s not designed to have the person disclose details about what happened, but instead how to provide an affirming reaction and then get them to whatever thing they need next.

The Student Nurses’ Association is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive this Thursday, November 4th from 10-4 in the Tech Pride Room. Come donate blood and save three lives!

Friday Focus: IDEA / SLO Evaluations
Friday Focus sessions are designed to provide just-in-time resources and information for faculty throughout the semester. Each session focuses on a different resource, tool, or program available to faculty. During this session, Dr. Kevin Harris, the Associate Director of the Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, and Effectiveness (IARE) will provide an overview of the University course evaluation process, called IDEA. He will discuss how to select appropriate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) prior to student completion of the IDEA evaluations and provide tips on how to garner a good response rate. Join us on Friday, November 5th at 12 PM via Microsoft Teams.

Friday Focus: QEP
Friday Focus sessions are designed to provide just-in-time resources and information for faculty throughout the semester. Each session focuses on diverse resources, tools, and programs available to support faculty and/or student success. This week’s session will be focused on the QEP program- Tech’s Quality Enhancement Plan. Participants will leave the session with a better understanding of the QEP program, as well as the process for applying for a QEP grant and overview of the QEP program as a whole.

Halloween Costume Bike Trail Clean-up on October 27!
Halloween is approaching, and so is our Halloween Costume Clean-up! Join the Sustainable Campus Committee in cleaning up the mile of the bike trail that Tennessee Tech has adopted. We will meet at Foundation Hall parking lot at 3:30 on October 27! All materials will be provided. We ask that you bring yourself, a friend, and a costume fit for a clean-up!
