Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, February 21, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center in the Multipurpose Room (second floor) for this Gold Career Readiness Workshop! Mr. Russ Coughenour, Center for Career Development Director, will be describing the qualities of a strong, foundational resume.

This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card with you to receive credit for attendance.

Rural Reimagined would like to recognize Dr. Edward Lisic (Chemistry), Mrs. Janet Coonce (Chemistry), and Dr. Derrick Edwards (Counseling & Psychology) for receiving Level 2 funding ($2,500-$10,000) from our Faculty Grant Program. Dr. Lisic’s team proposed their project titled “Increasing Young Student Interest in STEM Education Through Games and Free Apps,” which will develop free educational games and apps to increase student engagement in at-risk K-12 public schools. They will employ student workers to help “test, analyze, and develop” the workability and effectiveness of these games and apps. Their project’s results will be displayed in research showcases, published in journals, and serve as crucial, preliminary data for larger grant funding. We congratulate Dr. Lisic, Mrs. Coonce, and Dr. Edwards and encourage other faculty members to submit their ideas in the future!

The Gospel Extravaganza is a Community-Wide praise event of song, poetry, instrument and dance presented by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and Kainos Church. Tau Beta Pi is hosting a blood drive on campus on Saturday, February 25th from 10AM to 2PM in the Stadium/Hoop parking lot. Anyone is welcome to donate! Rural Reimagined would like to recognize Dr. Samantha Hutson (Community Health and Nutrition), Dr. Hannah Upole (Design Studies), Ms. Allison Coutinho (Nutrition and Dietetics), and Ms. Amber Buckner (Community Health and Nutrition) for receiving Level 3 funding ($10,000-$25,000) from our Faculty Grant Program. Dr. Hutson’s team proposed their project titled “Spring into Health and Wellness: A Pop-Up Event,” which will supply take-home wellness boxes to families in the Upper Cumberland’s rural areas. Their project will support the development of these rural areas by providing “wellness-related resources that can help them to develop healthy life skills, such as increasing their knowledge of healthy eating habits, improving financial well-being, and understanding the ways that personal hygiene can impact overall wellness.” We congratulate Dr. Hutson, Dr. Upole, Ms. Coutinho, and Ms. Buckner and encourage other faculty members to submit their ideas in the future!
