The School of Art, Craft and Design at Tennessee Tech University presents the 26th Annual Bacchanal on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 1 to 5pm at Spankies Restaurant.

Bacchanal is a celebration of art, wine and food, and features a live auction of art and fine craft. Guests can bid on a variety of works created by local and national artists, Tennessee Tech alumni, faculty, students, and artists in residence. All proceeds from the event support scholarships for students in the School of Art, Craft & Design degree programs. To date, Bacchanal has supported students with more than $150,000 in scholarships.

Attendees will enjoy an elegant buffet of sumptuous eats prepared by Spankies Restaurant and refreshments of fine wine and craft beer donated by Empire Distributors of Tennessee and Budweiser of Cookeville. Live music will be performed by students from Tennessee Tech’s School of Music. Reservations are available for $60 in advance or may be purchased at the door for $70 while seats remain. Join the Bryan Symphony Orchestra at Tennessee Tech for its annual free Concert for the Community on September 3, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the Dogwood Park Performance Pavilion. Bring your chairs, blankets, and picnics for an evening of fun for the entire family! The concession stand will be open during the concert as well.

This concert will feature patriotic and classical favorites, along with some pop favorites and even highlights of the orchestra’s 60th Anniversary season, “Discover Your Symphony.”

This concert is made possible by the generous endowment of Dr. Sam and Mrs. Diane Glasgow in memory of their parents.

Pre-concert activities for young audience members will begin in front of the stage at 6:00 PM.

The Bryan Symphony Orchestra features Faculty and Student performers from the School of Music, performing alongside area professionals.  The Orchestra is supported by a collaboration between the Bryan Symphony Orchestra Association and Tennessee Tech University. New exhibition open at the Appalachian Center for Craft, featuring the glass works from artist, Chuchen Song. The exhibition is titled “Folded Stories: Exploring Chinese Symbolism & Women’s Narratives Through Glass” and will be on display in the Lakeview Gallery at the ACC now until September 26, 2023.

If you haven’t been able to check-out a Music City Drum Corps rehearsal yet, there is still time! Prior to leaving our campus on July 3rd, Music City Drum Corps will be performing a final run-through of their 2023 show in Tucker Stadium this Saturday, July 1st, at 8pm. 

Music City Drum Corps is a touring marching band from Nashville, TN and are comprised of brass, percussion, and color guard members. Participants are ages 16-21 and spend their summer traveling the country, competing in DCI competitions.

We are excited to host this world-class ensemble on Tech’s campus and hope you can come check it out!

The School of Music is excited to host Music City Drum Corps for their pre-tour band camp! They arrived on our campus Sunday, June 18th and will be on Tech’s campus until Monday, July 3rd.

Music City Drum Corps are a touring marching band from Nashville, TN and are comprised of brass, percussion, and color guard members. Participants are ages 16-21 and spend their summer traveling the country, competing in DCI competitions.

Music City will be holding large ensemble rehearsals in Tucker Stadium each night from 7pm-10pm, and these rehearsals are free and open to the public. All other sectional rehearsals throughout the day are also open to the public.

We are excited to host this world-class ensemble on Tech’s campus and hope you can come check it out!

In this class we will learn wood carving with a focus on 3D forms for sculpture or furniture embellishment. We will work in Bass wood and cover all of the tricks and techniques for making a block of wood into a realistic representation of something else. We will learn how to use and sharpen knives and gouges and how to shape and add texture with rasps, files and rotary tools.
Open to all levels.
Weekend – July 21-23, 2023

This workshop will introduce alternative ways to apply powder coats. Students will learn how to add patterns and illustrations to the powder coated surface using liquid powder, Prismacolor, graphite, micron pens and more. Then, students will look at two options of setting the illustrated metal pieces to create a brooch or a pendant through tab setting and/or riveting.
Basic skills such as sawing, and soldering are recommended but not required.

The TN Tech School of Music is excited announce the inaugural Live Audio Summer Academy. This one-day camp (9am – 5:30pm), is designed for individuals who want to learn more about mixing sound for the marching arts, musical theater, church, rock bands, and other large live performance events.

We are hosting two camps, one for students and one for adults.

Over the course of the weekend students will learn the basics of silk painting, the tools and materials used, and various techniques for creating designs on the surface of the cloth. We’ll also discuss finishing techniques, such as steaming and washing, to set the dyes and make the painting permanent. You’ll leave the class with a beautiful silk painting that you can display or wear as a one of a kind work of art.
