    Need help with research? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, is here to help! On Thursday, 10/9, we will be leading a workshop on research tools, focusing on how to find and evaluate sources. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B, from 11:00-11:50. No registration is required, and all are welcome.  If you can’t attend, come for a one-on-one session with one of our consultants.     Camino de Santiago Study Abroad June 2026

    Come join the Camino de Santiago Study Abroad June 1-12, 2026! Find out more at the informational meeting September 30th at 11am in Dan 207. This will be a two-week study abroad trip along the famous pilgrimage Camino de Santiago, hiking 10-15 miles per day through the Portuguese and Spanish countryside, staying in towns and villages, soaking in the culture, learning the sociology of transformative experiences, and experiencing your own transformation through the journey! Also, you will get 3 hours course credit in Sociology! Trip cost $1600. Contact lharding@tntech.edu for application information. Applications are due October 6th.

    WHSON Faculty win TPHA State Award

    Faculty members Dr. Jennifer Mabry, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, and Dr. Emily Lee, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, of Tennessee Tech University’s Whitson Hester School of Nursing, were recognized with the Partner and Leadership (PAL) Award at the Tennessee Public Health Association (TPHA) annual membership meeting on September 18, 2025. The PAL Award is presented to non-public health professionals, groups, or organizations whose extraordinary contributions advance public health and establish a model for others. This recognition was conferred for the development and expansion of the Collaboration for Healthcare Access in Rural Tennessee (CHART) Project, an academic-practice partnership designed to address inequities in healthcare access among medically underserved populations.

    Geist Joins American Nurses Credentialing Center and Int’l Education Society

    Nursing professor Melissa Geist joins 10 FNPs on a national board convened to contribute to initiatives that strengthen the advanced-practice nursing profession. She maintains dual ANCC certification as a Family & Pediatric NP. Geist has a distinguished history of service promoting inventive educational initiatives, including a recent appointment to the Int’l Society for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Committee on Creative & Critical Thinking.
