    We want to make sure students have the books they need to complete their courses.  Please announce to your classes that if students haven’t bought their textbooks, they should do so this week.

    We know there may be titles not assigned until later in the term or if you have a late starting class please let us know. We would like have them in stock and available for students to purchase.  We will begin returning textbooks February 9th.

    Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Faculty Awards in Teaching and Professional Service. Do you know a student-centered educator who practices innovative teaching designed to promote student success and engagement? Does the teacher inspire student learning or model best teaching practices for colleagues? Nominate them for the Outstanding Faculty Award in Teaching! Or maybe you know an educator who volunteers their time and professional expertise on a regular basis? Whose commitment to professional service makes a positive impact for those they serve?   • Call for Nominations for General Education Award 2021-2022

    This teaching award recognizes outstanding teaching in general education courses—1000- and 2000-level courses that fulfill general education requirements in Communication, History, Humanities/Fine Arts, Math, Natural Sciences, and Social/Behavioral Sciences.  Eligible nominees are currently full-time or part-time faculty members, instructors, or graduate teaching assistants who have taught general education courses at Tech for at least the past two full semesters. Each nominee will be contacted to submit additional application material. Both of the two winners will receive a cash award and a plaque.  Any student, faculty member, administrator, or recent graduate may nominate an outstanding teacher of general-education courses by submitting a letter of nomination that must be received by Thursday, February 24, 2022, in print or via email, and addressed to:  Lori Maxwell, Chair, General Education Awards Committee; lmmaxwell@tntech.edu; Campus Box 5052.

  • Chemistry Students Selected for ACS Leadership Award

    Chemistry Students Selected for ACS Leadership Award

    The Department of Chemistry would like to recognize two of our of students for receiving the Student Leadership Award from the American Chemical Society. Recipients of this award are selected from competitive pools of students from United States and international universities based on their leadership skills and extracurricular activities. The students selected possess the skills and potential to become future leaders within the ACS professional society.

    Courtney LaPointe, a senior chemistry major from Hendersonville, TN, was one of 21 students to receive the award and attend the ACS virtual Leadership Institute in 2021. Rebecca Firth, a junior chemistry major from Kingsport, TN, was one of 16 students selected to receive the award in 2022, and she will be attending the Leadership Institute in Atlanta, GA in January.

    The Leadership Institute is an invitation-only conference that allows students to attend workshops and network with other student leaders from around the world, as well as ACS leaders from local sections, technical divisions, and the ACS national board.

    The first day to register for a course at Tech, if you are using a fee waiver, is Monday, December 13, 2021.

    Tennessee Tech fee payment/enrollment confirmation deadline for Spring Term is Saturday, January 8, 2022.

    Last day for 100% refund for Fall Term is Sunday, January 9, 2022.

    Tennessee Tech Spring Term classes begin on Monday, January 10, 2022.
