Tech has accepted an invitation to participate as one of four Educator Preparation Programs in the Lead in Literacy Network.

The group is convened by the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to bring about transformative change in the Tennessee education system.

“The College of Education has historically championed literacy and reading comprehension skills in all academic disciplines in our educator preparation programs,” said Lisa Zagumny, Dean. “Our dedicated faculty excel in creating meaningful and research-based experiences for emerging educators.”

Do you find writing intimidating? Do you struggle to take ownership over your writing, or to find your own voice within an assignment? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, is here to help! On Thursday, 3/21, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on Thinking About Writing. We can talk about how to claim your own voice as a writer and how to demystify writing itself. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 216A, from 11:00-11:50. The department of Counseling and Psychology is proud to announce that our counseling programs received accreditation decisions from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). All three graduate counseling programs, Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A. degree), School Counseling (M.A. degree), Counseling and Supervision (Ph.D. degree), were accredited for a full eight years (with retroactive accreditation for all School Counseling and Ph.D. program graduates since January 2022). This recognition highlights the commitment to providing exceptional education and training for future counselors, supervisors, and educators.

The Engendering the Spirit of Gadugi at the Food-Energy-Water (FEW) Nexus NRT program is accepting fellowship applications for the Fall 2024 semester.  Students in this program will have an opportunity to work on FEW research challenges in rural, Appalachian, and indigenous communities.

We are accepting master’s and PhD students for the Fall 2024 semester from various STEM disciplines. Fellowships include tuition, fees, and a $34k annual stipend.
