Tornado Drill Scheduled Nov. 23, 2021
Tennessee Tech University will conduct a tornado drill Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., barring inclement weather. The drill is an important exercise that allows the Tennessee Tech community to test its readiness in the case of emergency conditions.
The sequence of the drill:
11:30 a.m.
A tornado “warning” message will be issued via:
- text alert
- emergency alarm systems
- digital signage (Main campus only)
- broadcast e-mail to University faculty, students and staff
- outdoor sirens (Main campus only)
- broadcast intercom systems in select buildings (Main campus only)
Once the tornado “warning” message is received, all members of the campus community should quickly and safely evacuate to the designated areas within each respective building.
11:45 a.m.
Wait for the “All Clear” to be issued. Once the all clear has been declared you may resume normal operations.

REALM of FANTASY: Erin Knight Senior Thesis Exhibition
Senior Thesis Exhibition for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals
Goblins and faeries have taken over the gallery at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN. Graduating senior Erin Knight created a scene of wonder in her student exhibition, “Let The Finale Be Unseen”, a lively cast of fantastical creatures caught in a moment of time. They brought their tree and storybook with them and will be in residence Nov.17 – 30, 2021. All ages are invited.
A culmination of three years of hard work, features goblins, faeries, and other creatures out of folklore exploring our world from the safety of a tree transplanted from theirs. Attendees can view these intrepid explorers from all angles as they move about the space. Artist Erin Knight invites close inspection of the work and the associated title cards, “because some secrets need a little digging to uncover.”

Budget Office training sessions for November have been scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:
General Budget Training: This training gives a big picture overview of the university budget, Banner screens, and budget revisions. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on the Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template. This is an optional training course.

What: Come up with an idea for a product, business, service, etc. Give a 90 second pitch to our panel of judges and compete for $1,500 in prizes!
Why: Creative problem solving, gain confidence, share an idea, win prizes, and have fun!
When: Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.
Where: Wherever you are! This year’s challenge is virtual!
Students can compete alone or in teams, and will have 90 seconds to pitch their idea – no PowerPoint, no Q&A. Your idea doesn’t need to be fully thought out, but it should be feasible and solve a problem. Get creative and think big!
Virtual pitch practices are Wednesday, Nov. 3 and Monday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.
