Congratulations COEd Advanced Program!
The College of Education is excited to share that the educator preparation advanced programs (Instructional Leadership, Library Science, Literacy, School Counseling, and School Psychology) were granted accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) with no areas for improvement or stipulations. Thanks to all who helped accomplish this achievement!

First French Club Meeting
Bonjour tout le monde! Hello everyone! The French Club will be hosting its first meeting of the semester during Dead Hour on September 2nd in Oakley 219. Some past group activities have included: Zombie Potluck, Trivia Night, Movie Nights, and many more activities! We will be electing club officers for the 2021-2022 academic year and be sure to check out our Instagram (@ttuavantgarde) and our Facebook group (Avant-Garde Tennessee Tech)!

Double Reeds of Tennessee Tech University – First Meeting!
Did you play oboe or bassoon in high-school? Have you always been fascinated by the complexity of double reed instruments? Do you want to hang out with a group of musicians just as passionate about music as you are?
If you answered “Yes!” to any of these questions, the Double Reeds of Tennessee Tech University might be the club for you! Our first meeting (ever!) will be on Friday, August 27th at 7pm in BFA room 255.

African Student Union First Fall Meeting
1st African Student Union Meeting for Fall 2021/2022
The TnTech African Student Union is inviting you to its first meeting of the semester. There will games, food and an opportunity for the new and old students to connect. It promises to be fun. African or not, you are all invited!! The event will take place as follows:

Tennessee Education Association member drive
The Tennessee Education Association is a professional organization and state division of the National Education Association (NEA) open to all Tennessee teachers, including higher ed. TTU has an active chapter of TEA. It offers many leadership and professional development opportunities. For membership, it’s best to contact TTU TEA President Dr. Josie McQuail by phone or e-mail (jmcquail@tntech.edu), but it is also possible to join on the TEA website at http://www.teateachers.org/join-today (the local chapter asks for a $10 local fee to support activities and initiatives at TTU– mail to J.McQuail Box 5053, TTU with your membership application). It is possible to join via Payroll deduction (contact J. McQuail for the form), bank draft, or check for the entire year, as you choose. Included with membership is liability insurance and legal advice and representation through the Uniserve program. Membership applications are due in early September.

Oakley STEM CenterThe goal for you, I’ll recite in verse. Join in on all the STEM fun to break the curse. From measuring maps to exploding boomerangs to monsoon rain. This STEM event is sure to exercise your brain!
A parent or guardian is expected to attend with the student(s). Students may not be left unattended.
Masks are required to attend this event as per Tennessee Tech University Policy.

Attune newsletter now available
We invite you to view our latest issue of Attune with articles including Saying Goodbye to Project AWAKEN, (campus) Breast Feeding Spaces, and Tech’s Peer Empowerment Program. This newsletter is published twice yearly by the Women’s Center and the Commission on the Status of Women and focuses on gender-equity issues as well as Women’s Center resources and upcoming events. Replay YuJa Media Tutorial
Join us for a replay from a previous session where one of the representatives from YuJa Media highlights the features of YuJa and demonstrates how to utilize each feature. Topics to be covered include an overview of the platform, how to manage media, uploading media, linking to media, video quizzes and more. CITL staff will be available for questions at the end.

CAFÉ Conversations Diversity and Inclusion Series
Join us on August 30 for the first CAFÉ Conversations session in the Diversity & Inclusion Series and meet the Center Directors for the Accessible Education Center and Multicultural Affairs. Each Director will provide an overview of each area and the current resources and activities that promote success for diverse student populations. The conversation will also serve as an opportunity to engage with faculty on how they can partner with each Center to improve inclusive teaching efforts and promote student success. Coffee, tea, water and individual snacks will be provided.

Immediate Needs for Volunteer Reception Center in Waverly, TN
Emergency Items Needed to begin the general clean up are as follows:

- Flat Shovels
- Brooms
- Rakes
- Floor Squeegees
Bring items to RUC 119
Our very own, Don Sowers, Interdisciplinary Studies, is on the ground for TN Tech and is running the volunteer reception site for general volunteers. He has requested these items and we would love to be able to drive some of these items over to him on Friday. They will be used by volunteers for week and months to come.
Team Rubicon is on site as of 2pm today will begin getting clearance for volunteers to come in and begin mucking out the houses. They are assessing the site and ordering in the supplies they will need to get the job done. For more information on volunteering with them, go to their website: https://teamrubiconusa.org/
If you are unable to volunteer doing manual labor, maybe you would like to help cook, feeding volunteers and victim through an organization called Mercy Chef. Ms. Lisa Saylor would love your help. Contact Michelle Huddleston at volunteer@tntech.edu to be put in contact with Lisa.

Women in CyberSecurity Student Chapter Meeting – 08/31/2021
Join us for the first Women in CyberSecurity student chapter meeting of the semester this upcoming Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 at 6:00PM in Prescott 215!
