Cultural Appropriation: Fashion or Foul? – Exhibition and Panel Discussion

331

Join the Center Stage and the School of Human Ecology for an event focused around the impact that cultural appropriation has on our campus community and beyond. This event features both an in-person and virtual component.

On Friday, Nov. 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., guests can visit a garment exhibition in the Tech Pride Room featuring historic clothing items of cultural significance from the MacIndoe Historic Costume Exhibit, housed in the School of Human Ecology.

Immediately following the garment exhibition, guests are invited to join a virtual panel discussion via Zoom, featuring three experts from the campus community, regarding cultural appropriation and the impact it has on our campus. This will be an opportunity for guests to ask questions and learn more about the efforts being promoted here on campus to help inform all of our community about the effects of cultural appropriation.

The link to join the virtual panel discussion can be found on the Center Stage webpage (https://www.tntech.edu/centerstage/) or by e-mailing Dr. Hannah Upole, Assistant Professor of Merchandising & Design, at hupole@tntech.edu.
