This lecture/performance aims to foster awareness of Latin American cultural diversity through an emphasis on the relationship between music, culture, and history in the region. We will explore the indigenous music of countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Cuba, and Colombia. The presentation includes a brief introduction to the region, its history and cultural expressions, performance of selected genres and styles, discussion of selected Latin American indigenous instruments, and interactive music activities with students.
