TCRI Hosts Start Here Pitch Competition
On November 17th, 2022, the Tennessee Tech Center for Rural Innovation and The Biz Foundry will host the Start Here Pitch Competition in partnership with the Highlands Economic Partnership CareerFest. This is the first-ever Upper Cumberland pitch competition! Local, regional, and national startups in the Upper Cumberland region are invited to apply for a chance to win $10,000 for their business and pitch to the Upper Cumberland Angel Investors Fund. Jeff Brown, The Biz Foundry CEO, states, “This is a great opportunity to encourage innovative local, regional, and national entrepreneurs that can have an impact on our region and prove that they really can Start Here!” The Start Here Pitch Competition will be held at The Biz Foundry at 114 N Cedar Ave, Cookeville, TN from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Veterans Week 2022
On behalf of the Tennessee Tech Department of Military and Veteran Affairs and the Student Veterans Organization, we cordially invite you to join us for Veterans Week 2022 from November 7 through 11. This week is designed to bring awareness of the Tennessee Tech veteran population and show our gratitude for their service to our country. Since there will be no classes on Veterans Day this year, the ceremony to commemorate that day will be held on TUESDAY, November 8 at 11:00 am in the Derryberry Auditorium. Do join us for a solemn ceremony to honor all who served. Pastries and refreshments from local establishments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Rotaract Meeting 11/3
Hey guys! The Tennessee Tech Rotaract Club is having another meeting in TJ Farr Room 203 during dead hour! This meeting will actually sponsor a guest speaker from Cookeville Breakfast Rotary to talk to the club about experiences in the club as well as leadership! Feel free to come by and gain some insight! We will also have food, so that is definitely something to seek out! 2022 Holiday Payroll Deadlines
Please observe the following deadlines during the upcoming holiday season.November Deadlines
• Extra Pay timesheets are due by 4:30 P.M. on Friday, November 4th
• October leave reports are due by Wednesday, November 2nd (Approvals due Friday, November 4th)
• The deadline for receipt of any payroll changes normally due by the 15th is 4:30 P.M. on Friday, November 11th
• November monthly payroll is on Wednesday, November 30thDecember Deadlines
• Approval of Student/Temp payroll in Time Clock Plus is due by 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 1st
• November leave reports are due by Friday, December 2nd (Approvals due Tuesday, December 6th)

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Luke Chapman, TTU Electrical Engineering
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will feature work from Electrical Engineering major Luke Chapman. In his talk Nitrogen Vacancy Optically-Detected Magnetometry for Characterization of Systematic Effects in Precision Ultracold Neutron Experiments, Luke will describe his work over the summer building a magnetic field measurement device using a solid state quantum system. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are encouraged to attend!

Law Enforcement: Challenges, Opportunities, and Careers
The Sociology and Criminal Justice club will be hosting guest speaker Dr. Dennis Bowman on Monday, November 7th from 6 pm- 8pm in Stonecipher Lecture Hall room 113. Dr. Bowman has extensive experience in law enforcement both practically and academically. With over 30 years of experience from the Illinois State Police and as Professor Emeritus in the School of Law Enforcement & Justice Administration at Western Illinois University, Dr. Bowman will discuss contemporary issues currently faced by law enforcement and strategies for dealing with those issues. Dr. Bowman will also provide students with tips on how to earn positions in law enforcement agencies upon graduating. Engineers Without Borders (EWB) & TTU Water Professionals are hosting their third joint meeting of the semester THIS Thursday November 3rd in Prescott Hall Room 330 during dead hour. Kelley Peck and Austin Auld from The Army Corps of Engineers will be presenting while we have sandwiches for lunch! The Story:
Crawlspace is based on the story of a convicted serial killer. Although inspired by his own words and the public record of his life and crimes, this is a work of historical fiction. Certain names and identifying details have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals. Fictional characters have been added, and liberties have been taken that differentiate this work from the true-life events. The musical is a theatrical re-imagining of the story and horror of the case and those who suffered in its wake.
