Nov. 9 Careers n’ Coffee with City of Maryville, TN
Take a break and enjoy a FREE cup of coffee while speaking with recruiters from City of Maryville, TN on Monday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the RUC’s Swoops Food Court.
Maryville is located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains with a population of more than 27,000 people. The city’s goal is to continue to enhance the quality of life of its residents.

Nov. 9 Careers n’ Coffee with Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia (MTSA)
Take a break and enjoy a FREE cup of coffee while speaking with recruiters from MTSA on Monday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Bell Hall.
MTSA is a private, graduate-level institution specializing in nurse anesthesia education, founded in 1950. It is the only independent, fully accredited anesthesia institution of its kind in the United States.

2026 Christmas Ornament Decorating Contest
The Office of the President is hosting our second annual Christmas ornament decorating contest! This is open to departments across campus, only one entry per department. The theme this year is Christmas movies! Pick your favorite and use your imagination to recreate or reimagine characters, scenes, and memorable movie moments. Entries must be able to easily sit or hang on a tree branch. No store bought ornaments can be entered, and all entries must be family friendly.
Registration and ornament drop off opens today and runs through Monday, 11/30. Ornaments can be dropped off at the front desk in Derryberry Hall, room 206. They will be judged by an impartial group. First, second, and third place winners will be announced in Tech Times on Thursday, 12/3. Register here.

Retirement Reception for Diana Lalani on Tuesday, November 17
The Angelo & Jennette Volpe Library announces a reception to celebrate the retirement of Diana Lalani on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 2-4 in Volpe Library 140. Lalani, previously of Tech’s Women’s Center and an Aqua Dance instructor at the old Fit, and currently a cataloger at the library, is retiring after 19 years of service. Please join us for light refreshments as we wish Diana the best in her retirement.

Steven Dunn, Author to Speak Nov. 5
Novelist Steven Dunn will be a Guest Speaker Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in Bell Hall Auditorium. Also featured will be special guest Leonard Tucker. A book-signing will follow the event. Dunn is a Whiting Award winner who was shortlisted for Granta Magazine’s Best of Young American Novelists. He’s the author of three novels: Potted Meat (Tarpaulin Sky, 2016), water & power (Tarpaulin Sky, 2018), and Tannery Bay (FC2/University of Alabama Press, 2024), which is co-authored with Katie Jean Shinkle.
Potted Meat is a 2017 Colorado Book Award Finalist, VICE Magazine’s Best Books of 2016, and adapted into a short film by Foothills Productions called The Usual Route. The Usual Route has played at the LA International Film Festival, Houston International Film Festival, and others.
