SuitsGiving
Tennessee Tech College of Business is excited to announce its 2nd annual SuitsGiving drive-thru donation event. The donations are being collected for the College of Business’s Business Professional Closet (BPC). The BPC is a free resource for all Tech students to have access to professional clothing. SuitsGiving will be held in the front entrance of Foundation Hall on November 15th, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. We are searching for new or gently used items in all sizes, but especially XS and XXL: suits, sports coats, khaki pants, button-up shirts, ties, belts, shoes, dresses, blouses, pant suits, blazers, dress pants/chinos, and jewelry. Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Dr. Zegnet Muhammed, TTU Physics
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will be given by Dr. Zegnet Muhammed, a member of TTU’s physics department. Dr. Muhammed’s talk First-Principles Study of Doping Effects on Ferroelectricity and on Rashba Spin Splitting will provide a look at how physics uses fundamental principles to handle the modeling of complex macroscopic systems. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210, with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

Student Affairs Student Spotlight – Baylee Dalton
Meet Baylee, our November Student Affairs Student Spotlight! Originally from Smyrna, Tennessee, Baylee received her undergraduate degree from Tech and is now a first-semester MBA student, graduating in the Summer of 2025. She serves as a Graduate Assistant for the College of Business and as a TA for a computer forensics course. Baylee’s impact can be felt in her roles as a College of Business Ambassador, Trailblazers captain, Fall Fun Fest volunteer coordinator, and leader in launching the COVID-19 Grocery Relief program. Congrats, Baylee!

Holiday Festival Woodturning Workshop at ACC
Learn the basics of woodturning in this upcoming Holiday Festival workshop! Whether you’re new to woodturning, or looking for a fun project to refresh your skills, this workshop is for you! We will cover the fundamentals of woodturning, from lathe safety and proper turning technique to shaping, sanding and finishing. Participants will start by practicing basic spindle turning and will then move on to designing and creating their own functional bottle openers, from start to finish. We’re offering a morning and afternoon session on November 23 during Holiday Festival. Register and get more details here!

Andy Loftis Retirement Reception – Nov. 12th
Please join us in celebrating the retirement of Andy Loftis, Power Plant Manager, who has been a cornerstone of our campus for an incredible 29 years. As many of you know, Andy has played a pivotal role in keeping our campus comfortable—quite literally! From the sweltering summer days to the chilly winter nights, Andy has contributed to the heating and cooling of each and every room and office on campus.
As he embarks on this new chapter, we encourage everyone to thank Andy for his years of service and the countless ways he has made TTU a better place. Please join us for a farewell celebration on Tuesday, November 12th from 1:00-3:00 at the Tech Pride Room in the RUC to honor Andy and his incredible legacy at TTU.

Forage is a FREE online resource that offers virtual day-in-the-life experience programs designed by leading companies. Through this platform, students engage in self-paced online learning programs that simulate the work performed in different roles at different companies through interactive, hypothetical tasks. Forage offers 300+ job simulations with over 125 employers. Forage is ideal for first-year connections courses or courses with a career immersion component. The Caplenor Faculty Research Award is Tennessee Tech’s highest honor bestowed upon its faculty. The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2024-2025 Caplenor Faculty Research Award is Friday, November 29, 2024. No individual may nominate more than one person. Complete guidelines and the nomination form are contained on the Office of Research’s home page at the link below.
