WHSON Faculty win TPHA State Award
Faculty members Dr. Jennifer Mabry, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, and Dr. Emily Lee, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, of Tennessee Tech University’s Whitson Hester School of Nursing, were recognized with the Partner and Leadership (PAL) Award at the Tennessee Public Health Association (TPHA) annual membership meeting on September 18, 2025. The PAL Award is presented to non-public health professionals, groups, or organizations whose extraordinary contributions advance public health and establish a model for others. This recognition was conferred for the development and expansion of the Collaboration for Healthcare Access in Rural Tennessee (CHART) Project, an academic-practice partnership designed to address inequities in healthcare access among medically underserved populations.

Hispanic Heritage Event with SHPE
Join the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) on Wednesday, September 24 in the AIEB Atrium from 6 to 8pm for a vibrant Hispanic Heritage Month celebration! Enjoy food and drinks, arts and crafts, glass painting, games, a piñata, and plenty of opportunities to learn and engage with Hispanic culture. This event is free and open to all students—come celebrate, connect, and have fun!

Relaxation Hours
The Center for Counseling and Mental Health Wellness are inviting you to stop by our Relaxation Hours Workshop! We want to provide you all a space to unwind and relax in between classes, no obligation or lecture involved – just a quiet, safe space to chill out! We have red light therapy, a massage chair, a sand tray, and more! We will be offering our relaxation space every Thursday this semester, starting at 11:00am. A 12-Day Faculty-led Study Abroad opportunity to Madrid, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal is now open to all students! Students will enjoy international business visits, guided city tours, and visits to world-renowned landmarks. Sascha Altman DuBrul to Speak this Thursday
Sascha Altman DeBrul will speak on Thursday, Sept. 25th at 7 p.m. in Stonecipher 113.
DuBrul is the co-founder of The Icarus Project, an international community support network and media project, which is attempting to redefine the language and culture of mental health and illness. He founded the Bay Area Seed Interchange Library (BASIL).
He also helped to develop the Institute for the Development of Human Arts (IDHA), a training institute for mental health workers. This institute offers training to clinicians and peer workers in order to think about their personal relationship to mental health and illness. It is also building a network of mentorship to positively transform the mental health system.

ECE Guest Speaker Jack Baxter
On Thursday, September 25th at 11 AM in Brown 315, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) will be hosting guest speaker Jack Baxter. He will be hosting a Q&A style session with students, where students will be able to direct the event to their interests. The event will start with a short introduction from Jack Baxter about himself and his work, and then the rest of the time will be spent in Q&A.
Jack Baxter is a member of the ECE Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) and currently works at Nashville Electric Service (NES). As a member of the IAB, Jack wants to help all Tech students be successful during their time at Tech and after.

Memorial Gym Pool Beginner Swim Clinic
The TN Tech Swim Club will be hosting a beginner swim clinic at the Memorial Gym Pool tonight from 7-8:30pm! Long-time swim instructor Brad Westrick will guide beginners to learning basic swimming techniques. Swim Club Officers will work with intermediate level swimmers to improving lap swimming technique as well as any desired swimming / treading tricks. Patent Granted for Cyber Risk Assessment System
Tennessee Tech researchers Bradley Northern, Dr. Denis Ulybyshev, Trey Burks, Marlana Hatcher, and Dr. Michael Rogers have been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,418,557 B2 for “Systems and Methods for Cyber Risk Assessment for Computing Systems.” This innovation introduces automated risk scoring, sensitivity analysis, and proactive defensive actions, enhancing the resilience and security of modern computing systems.
