Autonomous Robotics Club Alumni Night
You are invited to join the Autonomous Robotics Club on April 17th from 5–8 PM in the AIEB Atrium. This event will provide an opportunity to network with club alumni and current student members while learning more about the organization and its work.
The evening will begin with dinner, followed by an alumni-student panel, and conclude with an open house of the club’s lab. During the open house, attendees will have the chance to explore current projects and learn more about the club’s history and ongoing initiatives.

Frames in a Day with Alexandra Mavrikis
Looking for a custom frame perfectly sized for family photos, keepsakes, diplomas, or original artwork? The Appalachian Center for Craft will host a daylong “Frames in a Day” workshop on Saturday, May 16. In this workshop, participants will design and build small solid-wood frames, carving and decorating them before finishing with paint. Students will learn to use a variety of woodworking tools—including the jointer, planer, bandsaw, drill press, jigsaw, router, gouges, and sanders—to bring their ideas to life. Each participant will leave with a unique, hand-crafted frame and new skills in woodworking.

Flameworking Pendants with Matt Holifield
The Appalachian Center for Craft will host a daylong beginner introduction to lampworking, focusing on creating a delicate glass leaf pendant, on Saturday, May 16. Students will learn to safely operate a torch, gather and shape molten glass, and explore basic sculpting techniques. After completing the initial project, the instructor will demonstrate more advanced techniques, including creating dichroic space marbles. Participants will receive guidance throughout the day, developing confidence and skill in handling hot glass and understanding foundational flameworking processes. By the end, students will take home their leaf pendant and a deeper appreciation for working with glass.

WEST Workshop 4/14: Proper Publishing Practices!
No idea how to publish your creative or academic writing? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, is here to help! On Tuesday, 4/14, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on publishing practices for creative pieces and academic works. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B, from 11:00-11:50. No registration is required, and all are welcome. If you can’t make the workshop, come for a one-on-one session with one of our consultants. For availability and scheduling, check out our website. Pitchin for Paws – Tech Softball Dog Food Drive
Tech Softball hosts Southern Indiana this weekend, April 11 and 12, with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
We will be having our dog food drive for the Cookeville Animal Shelter during this weekend’s series. Please bring dry PURINA or PEDIGREE dog food to the game. Bring a bag of 18 lbs. or more and receive an entry into our drawing for a chance to win 2 Grand Ole Opry Tickets, a grooming certificate for your dog, and more!

Innovation You Can See: Faculty Innovator Showcase
The Third Annual Faculty Innovator Showcase will take place Wednesday, April 22, from 5:00–7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gym. Full‑time faculty and staff are invited to register to present innovative projects, research applications, or early‑stage inventions and can earn $1,000–$1,500 in non‑instructional pay for participating. Tennessee Tech Symphony Band performs at Schermerhorn Symphony Center
Join us on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 PM as the Assembly Quartet joins the Tennessee Tech Symphony Band, conducted by Jeffrey Miller, for a special performance of composer Katahj Copley’s saxophone quartet concerto Grosso Damn. The concert will feature the quartet as soloists with the ensemble in a program shared with the Antioch Wind Ensemble, directed by Frank Zimmerer.

The Student Members of the American Chemical Society will be hosting a spirit night fundraiser at Panda Express (1020 S. Walnut Ave) on Wednesday, April 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A portion of the sales will be donated to us if you show the flyer in the image or mention ACS when ordering. Rahnama Lab Research Wins Prestigious Award at International Conference
At the 33rd Fungal Genetics Conference in California, Dr. Mostafa Rahnama attended with three graduate students. Among them, Ari Mortensen received a Mycota Best Poster Award—selected from 319 posters, with only two recipients—an honor associated with The Mycota (Springer), a leading book series in fungal biology. Ari’s research was a collaborative effort with Rahnama lab members Justin King, Sahar Salimi, and Astha Mishra and explores molecular mechanisms controlling fungal pathogenicity.
