Guest Speaker Sara Lowery
On Tuesday, September 14th join us in welcoming guest speaker Sara Lowery presenting a conversation on “Shining a Light on Mental Darkness”. As noted by the Center for Collegiate Mental Health, nearly 1 in 5 university students are affected by depression and anxiety. Sara Lowery was one of those students. In this personal keynote, Sara shares her story in hopes that students can learn how to reach out for support during those dark times and search for the light. Students will learn their intrinsic value and strategies to fighting through the feeling of disappointment, fear, and yes even loneliness. Sara will challenge students to really look around to not only find someone whom they can lean on, but also who might need help finding their mental light. This discussion will take place at 7PM in the Derryberry Hall Auditorium and is presented by the Student Government Association Mental Health Matters Initiative.

Business, Government & Non-Profit Internship & Job Fair is Tuesday, Sept. 21
Join the Center for Career Development and the College of Business for this Career Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in The Hoop. ALL Majors and ALL students (freshman to alumni) are invited to discuss career opportunities with over 20 employers!!!
Students should make sure to bring plenty of copies of their resume!
Students should come dressed to impress and have their Eagle Card on hand to obtain a personalized name tag. This event counts toward Career Readiness Certification!
All participants will be asked to follow Campus Return to Tech Guidelines in regards to social distancing and face coverings.
Career Fairs are a NO BACKPACK ZONE. Please leave your backpack in your car or room.

Are you interested in Co-op? Need to find out how YOU can be Co-op eligible? Attend this Co-op Meetup on Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Clement Hall 212 at 11 a.m. Any student interested in accepting a Cooperative Education position with an employer MUST attend a Co-op Meetup.
The Co-op Meetup will explain the eligibility guidelines for enrolling in the Cooperative Education Program, which went into effect July 1, 2019 for all students. Pre-registration to enroll in the Co-op Program is now required and attending a Co-op Meetup is your first step! American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Membership Drive
Have you always wanted to be like Einstein? He was an AAUP member! The TTU chapter of the AAUP is seeking renewals and new members for the Tech chapter of AAUP. Payroll deduction forms are due this week; for payroll deduction, we must have your renewal or membership form in hand no later than Sept. 14. The first meeting of the year will be Wed. CAFÉ Conversations: President’s Cabinet
Join us on September 15 for our next CAFÉ Conversations session with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Career Placement, Dr. Brandon Johnson. During this session, Dr. Johnson and his team will provide an overview of Enrollment Management and Career Placement and current resources and activities that promote student success. The conversation will also serve as an opportunity to engage with faculty on how they can partner with Enrollment Management and Career Placement on student success initiatives.
Coffee, tea, water, and individual snacks will be provided.

Awards provide a way to lead students through your content to give order, engagement, and inspiration. In this session, Kyle and Kelvin will cover the broader picture of using awards to encourage students toward a goal. They will discuss different structures for utilizing awards in iLearn and applying these structures to a gamified scenario.

Fall 2021 Friday Cafe
Friday Café is the hands-on learning experience for foods and nutrition students in Human Ecology. Friday Café will serve six meals for fall semester. Dates will be Sept 17, Sept 24, Oct 1, Oct 8, Oct 22 and Oct 29. Menus are posted on Marketplace and on the Human Ecology Friday Café webpage. This fall semester students will utilize vegetables grown at Shipley Farm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, meals will be a carryout option only. If COVID restrictions change and we are able to move meals to the dining room, an update will be provided. There will be three time pick-up options each week (11:45 am, 12:00 pm, and 12:15 pm) with a limit of 12 meals for each time slot. Meals will be available for pickup inside the front door of Oakley Hall. Meal purchase is made through Marketplace by making prepayment by noon on Wednesday. Meal cost will be $8.50. We are unable to process refunds at this time. A portion of the increase will be used to provide free Friday Café meals to students who utilize the Food Pantry this semester. Contact the Human Ecology office at 372-3157 with any questions.
