Tennessee Tech celebrates Charter Day March 27
Sunday is Tennessee Tech’s Charter Day!
On March 27, 1915, a group of local officials came together to establish an institution of higher education in Cookeville. From Dixie College to Tennessee Polytechnic Institute to Tennessee Tech University, the place we fondly call “Tech” has come a long way in 107 years.
March 27 celebrates the 10,500 students who currently attend Tech. It celebrates the 80,000 alumni who call Tech their alma mater. It celebrates the 1,100 faculty and staff who dedicate their careers to helping students. It celebrates all the ways in which the City of Cookeville embraces the university. And it celebrates Tennessee Tech, a place that has changed so many lives.
Thank you, Tennessee Tech. Happy Charter Day.

Alpha Phi Omega is Co-Ed Service Organization based on the Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. A few examples of what we do include: Blood Drives, Personal Care Product Drives, Relief Drives, Campus Cleanups, Nursing Home and Emergency Services Card Making, etc. We strive to embody the aforementioned Cardinal Principles in all that we do in order to help others, build lifelong friendships, and develop ourselves as professional individuals. Data Science League Hackathon this Weekend!
The Data Science League is planning a hackathon for this weekend (3/25 – 3/27) to detect flooded cornfields from satellite imagery. No prior knowledge of machine learning, AI, or flood detection is necessary, just a willingness to learn and participate. We’ll have meals and snacks throughout the weekend event. The Nashville Area College to Career Fair is Thursday, Mar. 31
Join Tennessee Tech’s Center for Career Development and other Middle Tennessee universities on Mar. 31, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Nashville Fair Grounds. Students may request to ride the Regions Bank Bus to the Career Fair. Any student who is interested in taking the bus needs to email Clay Wesley at cwesley@tntech.edu. Space is limited so reserve your seat NOW!!!
The Nashville Area College to Career Fair is a collaborative effort of several Middle TN universities, which allows their students to network with employers from the Nashville area. ALL majors and ALL students (freshman to alumni) are invited to discuss career opportunities!

Book Orders due March 25, 2022 for Summer and Fall
We wanted to let everyone know AIP (Adoptions and Insights Portal) is now up and running. You can submit Summer and Fall book orders through the portal. Remember if you are teaching classes in both Summer and Fall you will need to put book orders in both terms. Book orders are due Friday, March 25.
If you are using the same book as this spring, the term may not being showing as an option to choose books. This is in the process of being fixed. In the meantime, if you used the book in another semester, you can choose that term or you can type in the ISBN. Either option works.

Ryan Eberle is a Lead Analyst of Customer & Digital Insights at Chick-fil-A on the Customer & Market Insights Team. He will be sharing what data science looks like at Chick-fil-A, what tools and skillsets are used by analysts, and what types of analysis they are currently working on in support of growing Chick-fil-A sales and customer engagement.

Apply Now for LeaderShape’s Catalyst Program (Deadline April 1)!
Catalyst is a one-day, intensive leadership program focused on learning to develop your own authentic path, connect to groups and causes you care about, and commit to a plan to be a catalyst for yourself and the groups you’re part of. This program is designed to help student leaders at Tech find their unique path to becoming a stronger leader.
In partnership with the Center for Student Engagement, Center for Career Development, and Student Success, we are bringing LeaderShape’s Catalyst program and facilitators to campus to provide undergraduate students a chance to strengthen their leadership abilities and enhance their impact on campus and within the community.
There is a limited number of spots for this year’s Catalyst program. Undergraduate students that are interested in participating within this program should complete the online application (on the website linked below). The in-person program will be hosted Saturday, April 23 from 9:30a – 4:30p (central) hosted on Tennessee Tech’s campus. Additional information will be communicated to those candidates chosen for this year’s program.

The award celebrates the efforts of Tennessee Tech employees to provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the campus community and work towards gender equity for all.
The Alison Piepmeier Outstanding Student Award: This award celebrates Piepmeier’s legacy of fierce feminism by recognizing an exceptional Tennessee Tech student whose research, activism and/or outreach advances gender equity. It acknowledges a student who shows a passion for learning, goes the extra mile to assist others, and contributes significantly to campus and/or the local community.

Call for EDGE QEP course grant applications!
EDGE: Enhanced Discovery through Guided Exploration is TTU’s Quality Enhancement Plan. The EDGE Creative Inquiry Course Grant Program offers Faculty the opportunity to redesign undergraduate or graduate courses to include creative inquiry projects and assignments. In addition, the EDGE rubric is now an optional method of assessing student work – faculty may propose another method for assessment. The limit on individual course grants is $5,000. The limit on multiple-course curriculum grants is $15,000. April 8 is the application deadline.
