Let’s Talk Business: Is AI Ready for Prime Time in the Stock Market

Don’t Forget! Pay Frequency Town Hall
The November Pay Frequency Town Hall will outline important updates and insights into the upcoming change to a bi-weekly pay frequency for hourly paid employees that will be effective starting December 29th, 2025.

Location: VirtualDuring the Town Hall, we’ll highlight key changes that employees can expect after the transition to Talon, as well as recommended actions to complete before this change takes effect.

Worship Night
TNTech’s S.A.L.T Campus Ministry group will be hosting a worship night in the Tech Pride Room, right next to the Caf, of Roaden University Center on Thursday, November 20th at 7PM. We will be singing songs of worship and giving testimonies of praise to Jesus and encouragement to one another. Come join us for a time of rest and refreshing as we worship the Lord and pray for the health and revival of hope on our campus!

WEST Workshop 11/18: Proper Publishing Practices!
No idea how to publish your creative or academic writing? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, is here to help! On Tuesday, 11/18, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on publishing practices for creative pieces and academic works. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B, from 11:00-11:50. Holiday Festival Workshops at the Craft Center
Don’t miss out on workshops during the Appalachian Center for Craft’s annual Holiday Festival on November 22! Nuclear For All Career Expo, Tues., 11/13 – Calling ALL Majors
Students from all majors are invited to explore a variety of nuclear industry and national security careers at the Nuclear For All Career Expo, Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Ashraf Islam Engineering Building Atrium. This drop-in event applies to all majors—including business, liberal arts, communications, fine arts, nursing, engineering, computer science, basic sciences, and more.
The expo will feature booths and educational sessions with company representatives sharing a variety of career paths in the nuclear industry. Bryan Symphony features Alum Soloist
On Sunday, November 16, 3pm, the Bryan Symphony Orchestra continues their concert season performing the New World Symphony by Dvorak and featuring School of Music alum, Jeffery Whaley. Whaley, principal horn player of the Knoxville Symphony, will perform alongside TTU School of Music horn instructor, Dr. Justin Stanley, and students Walker Andrews and Jenna Saucier in Robert Schumann’s Concertpiece for 4 horns and orchestras. Dr. David F. Ludwig Memorial Student Travel Scholarship
Namal Abeysooriya, a Ph.D. student in the Environmental Sciences program and under the supervision of Dr. Tammy Boles, Associate Professor in the College of Emerging & Integrative Studies, has been awarded the Dr. David F. Ludwig Memorial Student Travel Scholarship in the Ph.D. category for 2025. This nationally competitive award, administered by the Association for Environmental Health & Sciences (AEHS) Foundation, was established to recognize students pursuing high-impact research in ecology and ecological sciences and provides funding for travel associated with research or professional development. He was the only Ph.D. student in the country selected for this year’s award.
With support from this award, Namal will present his research findings at the 41st Annual International Conference on Soils, Sediments, Water, and Energy, where he will engage with scientists, regulators, and industry leaders from across the globe.

“Sexual differences in a plural breeder: Sociality and conflict between males and females”
Why do animals live in groups? Are the benefits and costs of group-living similar for males and females? These questions have been at the core of my research program and the focus of my 20-year study of the plurally breeding rodent, Octodon degus.
My talk will focus on how our understanding of degu sociality has evolved over 20 years and has led us to think that degu sociality is characterized by considerable sexual conflict.Thursday, November 13th 11:00 a.m. in LSC 1201

Student Affairs Student Spotlight – Bailey Bechtold
Meet Bailey Bechtold, our November Student Affairs Student Spotlight!
Bailey is a senior at Tennessee Tech majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Mechatronics. On campus, Bailey is an active member of the Autonomous Robotics Club, where she has served as Project Lead for T.A.L.U.S. and currently serves as Event Planner, coordinating activities and outreach events. Beyond her academic involvement, Bailey serves as a Trailblazer, welcoming prospective students to Tech, and as an academic tutor, helping peers succeed in engineering and math. This spring, Bailey was honored with the Spectrum Award for her outstanding involvement at Tech. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career focused on innovation and service.

Reflecting on the Honors 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Tech Honors Program held its 50th Anniversary celebration on November 1. Over fifty current Honors students, alumni, faculty, and friends joined us to reminisce and enjoy time creating new memories together. Our trivia competition included questions from across the semi-centennial history of Honors. Congrats to the first-place winners Yulieth Mercado (Honors ChE student) and Eric & Angie Hyche (in cursu honorum, EE ’87 and BIOL ’88). Thank you to our student volunteers and all who attended!
