Upcoming Deadlines for Non-Instructional Faculty Assignments 2025-2026
Non-instructional faculty assignments (NIFA) proposals are due to department chairs by January 10, 2025. NIFA are designed to contribute to the professional growth of the faculty, improve teaching and curriculum across the University, and/or enhance scholarship and academic excellence of Tennessee Tech in ways that cannot be accomplished under constraints of regular workload assignments. Faculty Research Committee Announces Call for Proposals
The Faculty Research Committee is soliciting proposals for funding for FY 2024-25.
The deadline to submit proposals and all required application materials to the Office of Research is Feb. 21, 2025. Materials may be submitted electronically via email to jdicey@tntech.edu or hand delivered to Derryberry Hall, Room 305. The Student Members of the American Chemical Society invite you to our informational session on summer research opportunities on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. in SLH 126. Students that participated in summer programs this summer will discuss Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs), internships, and CISE grants. Festival of Student Writing, RUC 282, T Nov. 26

RUC Multipurpose Room 282 (2nd floor)The campus community is invited to the English Department’s Festival of Student Writing, which showcases projects created this semester by students in ENGL 1010 and 1020 classes (English Composition I & II). The main feature of this lively event is the work of hundreds of first-year students who display and discuss their work at various booths and tables. Expect to see posters, exhibits, brochures, multimedia presentations, performances, and surprises. The event is designed for interaction; guests should ask students to talk about their projects: explain, expand, elaborate, elucidate, or enlighten. Now in its twenty-first year, the Festival is an exciting highlight of the fall semester.

Art Professor Exhibits in International Exhibition
School of Art, Craft & Design Professor of glass, Damon MacNaught, has work accepted into the international juried contemporary fine craft exhibition, Craft Forms 2024 at the Wayne Arts Center in Wayne, Pennsylvania, December 7th, 2024-January 25th, 2025. MacNaught’s glass work “Art of Science” will be on exhibit alongside works in all mediums created by 101 artists from around the world.

Pre-sale for hot chocolate reindeer extended through Nov 22!
The Student Members of the American Chemical Society is extending the Hot Chocolate Reindeer (hot chocolate mix and marshmallows- each reindeer makes approximately three cups of hot chocolate) pre-sale through Nov 22! You can order through our Square Store through Nov 22. We will deliver them to a Tech mailbox (for students) or office (for faculty and staff) on Dec 2. One reindeer is $2 or you can buy 3 for $5. You will be contacted via email after you order to determine your delivery location. Any questions can be sent to smacsttu@gmail.com. These make cute gifts, so consider ordering for yourself or for someone else. We can deliver your order to other people on campus if you want to send some end of the semester cheer!

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Mateo Cacheiro, TTU Physics
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will be given by physics major Mateo Cacheiro. Mateo’s interest is in physics education, and he has been collaborating on the development of a tool to help physics majors reflect on career goals and physics departments better support their majors in the career decision-making process. In his talk Developing an online tool to collect causal maps of students’ subfield interest formation, Mateo will describe this tool, its development, and show results from its use. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210, with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

Honors Program Students Celebrate Culture with Cuisine
Honors Program students from Benin, Brazil, India, and Venezuela hosted the International Cuisine and Culture celebration on Nov. 7. Attendees enjoyed palak paneer, dèguè, pastel piña and more. Students shared the cultural significance of their dishes, including the story behind Brazil’s brigadeiros, a popular dessert linked to a presidential campaign. Yulieth Mercado also presented traditional dress, music, and photos of Venezuelan biodiversity. Thanks to all who made the event a success!
