PAID Summer Internships Available with the Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School
The annual Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School (ERFS) is a FREE, six-week literacy and cultural enrichment program (June 5 – July 12, 2024), that is age-appropriate for children in grades 1st-5th. Participating students’ families qualify for free/reduced lunch programs.
We are accepting applications for this summer’s internship program, which is a unique, experiential (paid) opportunity for university students of all majors.
The program engages local children and their families in a variety of interactive learning projects and activities, events, field trips, and more while providing daily healthy meals and snacks throughout the summer.

“Predatory Instincts”: Gordon Clark Senior Thesis Exhibition
Senior Thesis Exhibition for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals
This senior thesis exhibition will be open Nov. 22 and run thru Dec. 5, at the Appalachian Center for Craft. The exhibition will include knives made by Gordon Clark, a senior in the program.
Gordon Clark, along with the help of the School of Art Craft and Design, will be holding a senior thesis exhibition, showcasing hand-made knives, that employ the use of Gordon’s culmination of knowledge from over 4 years in the metals program at Tennessee Tech University. On Dec. 2, there will be a reception, from noon to 3 p.m. Gordon’s exhibition is located at 1560 Craft Center Dr. Smithville, TN, in the Hilltop Gallery.
Gordon Clark is an independent metals artist who enjoys the creation of knives and other well made, quality items through various means, such as forging and welding.

Tech Men’s Basketball Hosts Midway
Cheer on your Tech Men’s Basketball team on Thursday, November 16 as they take on Midway at 6:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles will be celebrating Hometown Heroes’ Night and honoring our local and national U.S. military members, first responders, and medical personnel. Bring a valid military, first responder, or medical ID and receive FREE admission!
There will also be a canned food drive to help local Putnam County families in need. Bring three non-perishable food items and receive $5 admission.

TTU Women’s Basketball Welcomes Chattanooga in Home Opener
Come out to the Hooper Eblen Center for Celebration of Champions Night and cheer on your defending Ohio Valley Conference Champions on Wednesday, November 15 for an in-state rivalry game against Chattanooga at 6:00 p.m. The 2022-23 OVC Championship banner will be unveiled during the game and there will be free OVC Championship t-shirts and rally towels for fans while supplies last.
Tech students receive free admission by showing their Eagle Card. All other fans can bring three non-perishable food items to help local Putnam county families in need and receive $5 admission. Stick around after the game for an autograph session with the team and free posters sponsored by First Horizon Bank!

Emmanuel Agbeli w/ Tennessee Tech West African Drum Ensemble, Saturday Nov. 18
Emmanuel Agbeli is a renowned Master Drummer from Ghana, West Africa, where he is the director of the Dagbe Cultural Institute and Arts Centre. Born into a family of prominent musicians in Ghana’s Volta region, he is known as one of the foremost representatives of Ewe drumming, dancing, and cultural history. He joins Tennessee Tech’s West African Drumming Ensemble for a performance of traditional Ghanaian music and dance.
The performance is at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, in Wattenbarger Auditorium, Bryan Fine Arts Building, at Tennessee Tech University

WEST Workshop: The Writing Process and Revision
Is this the semester when you stop letting your first draft be your final draft? When you actually have the time to plan, write, and then rewrite your paper? Does your instructor keep telling you to revise your work, and you’re just not sure what they want? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, is here to help! On Thursday, 11/16, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on the writing process and revision strategies. We will talk about organization, how to see your work with new eyes, how to focus on cohesion and flow, and all sorts of useful things that will help you revise your papers like a professional writer. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B. No registration is required, and all are welcome! And if you can’t make the workshop, come for a one-on-one session with one of our consultants. Information Sessions on the Fulbright
Would you like to spend a year studying or teaching English in another country after graduation? Do you enjoy learning about other cultures, and are you passionate about sharing yours with others?
If so, then you might be an excellent candidate for a Fulbright grant.
To find out more about the Fulbright come to an information session on Thursday, November 16.
There will be two separate sessions, one from 11 am to 12 pm, and one from 3-4 pm. Both sessions cover the same material, and both will be in HEND 106B.
