Former members of tennis team say friendships still strong after 20 years
Eight former members of the Tennessee Tech women’s tennis team have remained friends since their time at Tech 20 years ago, despite living in four states and four countries. The secret to staying in touch, they said, is simple.
“It all comes down to a bit of effort.”
The came to Tech from all over the world, and their Tech degrees and experiences as student-athletes have led to impressive careers all over the world as well. And five of the former teammates actually reunited in Cookeville for Tech’s homecoming last month!

Budget Office training sessions for December have been scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:
General Budget Training: This training gives a big picture overview of the university budget, Banner screens, and budget revisions. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on the Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template. This is an optional training course.

StudentCPT’s Christmas Card Party
Join StudentCPT for our yearly Christmas party where we will be making Christmas cards for local assisted living facilities and nursing homes! Food, drinks, and all of the card-making supplies so all you have to bring is yourself! The event is on December 2, 2021, from 11 am to 12 pm in Johnson Hall Auditorium. Campus-Wide Dodgeball Tournament
Do you like to play dodgeball? Do you want to support a great cause while doing it? Register for the campus-wide dodgeball fundraiser today!
This year countless individuals were devastated by the Waverly, TN flood. The Association of IT Professionals wants to give back and sponsor several of the 900 Angel Tree kids from this area. Proceeds will go towards sponsoring as many children as possible.

TTU Star Party
All are invited to the Star Party being hosted by this semester’s ASTR 3100 (Observational Astronomy) class on Thursday, December 2, from 5.30 to 7 pm in the parking lot behind Foundation Hall. (Cloudy-skies date is Tuesday, December 7.) Telescopes will be set up for observing planets, stars, nebulae, and other galaxies, so come along and marvel at the wonders of the universe. Retired teacher, assistant principal establishes education scholarship
Tennessee Tech was always an important part of Kathy Ligon’s life. She grew up in Cookeville and when it came time to choose a college, there was never any doubt that she would choose Tech. But while choosing a university was easy, choosing a major proved to be more difficult. Ligon initially enrolled at Tech as a psychology major. She then changed her major to business, but neither felt like the right fit, and her grades suffered as a result.
“I was actually put on probation and academically dismissed from the university,” Ligon said. “I was on the seven-and-a-half year plan. It took me seven and a half years to get my bachelor’s degree.”
Ligon did some soul searching and decided to become a teacher. She begged the dean of the College of Education to give her a second chance, and he did. She re-enrolled at Tech and never looked back. Ligon would eventually earn three degrees from Tech and a doctorate from TSU. Now, she and her husband have established a scholarship for education majors to help others pursue the career that she loved.

Stadium Drive parking spaces closing/Sherlock Park fencing
Parking spaces on Stadium Drive at the east edge of Sherlock Park will be closed permanently as of 11/26. These parking spots will be part of the Ashraf Islam Engineering Building project site. The majority of Sherlock Park and these parking spaces will be fenced on 11/30 and the area will become an active construction site. Please bear with us as we move forward on this exciting addition to the Tennessee Tech campus!

ALICE Cereal, Crafts, and Cram
All Ladies in Civil Engineering (ALICE) will be hosting a final exam study and snack session on Thursday, December 2 from 6-8 pm in Prescott 215. There will be cereal for all to enjoy and craft supplies to make holiday cards for those who would like to take a study break. This event is open to all ladies who major in or who would like to major in Civil Engineering. We hope to see you there!

Farewell Reception for Amanda Fabrizio-Grzesik Dec. 7
Please join us in the Varsity Building on Dec. 7 from 3-4:30 p.m. for a farewell reception for Amanda Fabrizio-Grzesik, Director of Development. Amanda joined the Tennessee Tech University Development team in February 2015. Her fundraising work began in the College of Engineering and grew to include the College of Education and College of Agriculture and Human Ecology. Amanda has also been instrumental in raising funds for Tech’s Diversity Initiative. Join us on Dec. 7 as we wish her all the best on her future endeavors!
