Geoprofessional community establishes scholarship in memory of Tech alum
For more than 40 years, Ed Wilson, P.E. was a colleague, mentor, leader and friend to many within the geoprofessional community. As a thank you to Wilson and to encourage the next generation of young earth sciences and civil engineering geoprofessionals, the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA), with support from Wilson’s family, friends and colleagues, established the L. Edward Wilson Endowed Scholarship at Tennessee Tech.

The deadline to apply for graduation (undergraduates) for Summer 2022 is February 1. If you are intending to complete your degree in Summer 2022 and have not yet applied for graduation, you can apply directly from your Degree Works audit! Join the College of Business for the spring semester’s Tech Talk series! This program features faculty/staff that have extraordinary stories or experiences to share…or maybe a unique hobby or interest. We will feature a different guest speaker each session, giving each 17 mins to present and allowing time for discussion, questions, etc.
Real connections with the TN Tech family of faculty and staff are becoming increasingly important in student persistence efforts. As you explore and engage in transformational experiences on campus, why not come see a side of us that is both engaging and potentially transformational.

Gold Career Readiness Workshop on Jan. 25: Writing my First Resume
Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, Jan. 25, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for the first Gold Career Readiness Workshop of the semester! A staff member from the Center for Career Development will be describing the qualities of a strong, foundational resume.
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Leveraging Microsoft Teams for Classes
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning on Tuesday, January 25th at 11 AM to learn how to leverage Microsoft Teams for your courses. We will discuss the differences in Teams versus links, as well as how to use channels and files. We will also walk through the process of setting up meeting links and integrating Teams within iLearn.

Tennessee Tech announces Harper Scholars Program for female engineering students
A new scholarship will allow Tennessee Tech to recruit the best and brightest female engineering students.
The Trudy A. Harper Engineering Scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineering or mechanical engineering. Incoming freshmen must have a 3.75 high school GPA and 27 ACT composite score, and preference will be given to female students from Tennessee. The scholarship may be renewed for up to eight semesters.
Recipients of the scholarship will be known as “Harper Scholars” and will have the opportunity each semester to meet with the Tech alumna who established the scholarship.

Volunteers Needed! Toy STEM Story Safari Saturday (Pre K-3rd) 02/05/2022
Volunteers are needed for a family outreach event on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Oakley STEM Center.
Toy STEM Story Safari Saturday for Pre-K – 3rd graders
Join Woody, Buzz, and the gang as we rescue aliens with The Claw, help Slinky Dog escape, and take our imagination to infinity and beyond!
Volunteers will assist with hands-on STEM activities, event logistics, set up, and tear down. The event is open to families & their children ranging from Pre-K to 3rd grade. Please consider taking time to help & please share this opportunity with others who may be interested. Events like these are not possible without volunteers and we truly appreciate you donating your time to have a positive impact on the community.
Food and refreshments will be provided for volunteers!
