We have more tomatoes and produce available for purchase from Oakley Farm! This week, we have Sungold and Roma tomatoes available for $2 per pound. We also have cucumbers available for pickup. Cucumbers are two for $1.

Critical Thinking (Replay)
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning for a replay of our Critical Thinking workshop. In this session, we will discuss the importance of critical thinking as it prepares students for a lifetime of thinking and learning independently. We will cover ways to implement critical thinking exercises in the classroom, knowing what you know (metacognition), in-context learning, and inductive / deductive reasoning. Standard Mileage Rate Increase Effective 7/1/2022
The IRS recently announced that it will increase the standard mileage rate for qualified business driving for the second half of 2022. Beginning July 1, 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile. Tennessee Tech follows the State of Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration standard reimbursement rate schedule, which has recently been updated to adopt the IRS business standard mileage rate. We will monitor this rate regularly as fuel costs change and update the Chrome River travel expense management system accordingly. Annual Onsite Wellness Screening on Wednesday, September 21, 2022
The ParTNers for Health Wellness Program is a voluntary wellness program available to all state and higher education employees and spouses enrolled in health coverage. Each participant will be able to earn up to $500/year ($250/year for the eligible member and $250/year for eligible spouses). If you want to earn the cash incentive for completing a biometric screening you can attend our onsite screening.

Office of Sponsored Programs establishes search committees for new positions
The Office of Sponsored Programs has established search committees for its three new upper-level positions: director of sponsored programs, director of research compliance, and post-award team manager. The committees represent a diverse set of research expertise from across campus. Michael Aikens will lead the first, with MK Karafonda, Jeanette Luna, Rory Roberts, and Gail Ligon rounding out the team. Karafonda will lead the director of research compliance search, with Steve Seiler, Steven Hayslette, Greg Holt, and Liz Humphrey. Karafonda will also lead the committee to hire the post-award team manager with Michael Aikens, Anysa Milum, Gail Ligon, Terri McWilliams, and Justin Murdock. Summer Hours for Campus Pantry
The Food Pantry will open June 20 – July 27 for the Summer. Mondays and Thursdays 9am – 5pm.
We have the Food, Nutrition and Dietetics Program helping us open for the Summer. We appreciate them.
There will still be some renovations going on at the end of July.
The auxiliary pantry will remain open all summer, behind the desk in the library. Please utilize this resource when the main pantry is closed.

We’re excited to be back with tomatoes from Oakley Farm! We are taking orders beginning with our SunGold tomatoes, $5.00 per pound. To place your order email Lisa Rice at lrice@tntech.edu. List your name, email, phone# and how many pounds you would like to order.
We will contact you when your order is ready for pickup.
Future orders will consist of Roma tomatoes, Big Beef and Purple Cherokee.

Communications & Marketing Project Deadline Is June 22
The Office of Communications & Marketing, which includes Creative Services, Photo & Video Services, Web Services and Printing Services, will not be accepting any more projects after June 22, 2022 through the end of the fiscal year. This will allow for the current project load to be completed and billed by the end of the fiscal year.

401(k) Plan Match Doubled for FY23
General State and Higher Education Employees will be eligible to receive a $2 match for every $1 contributed to the State of Tennessee 401(k) plan each month, up to $100, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022. That’s a maximum match of $100 per month for contributions of $50 or more.
If you’re already contributing at least $50 to your 401(k) account each month, great news! You are all set to receive the full $100 match beginning with the first payroll for FY23.
If you haven’t yet enrolled or aren’t currently contributing at least $50 each month to the 401(k) account, don’t leave extra money on the table! To get the full match for the fiscal year, log into your 401(k) account now at RetireReadyTN.gov to make sure your monthly contributions equal at least $50 per month.
The increased match is currently approved for fiscal year 2023, which runs July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

Shibori Fibers Workshop
Shibori is a Japanese technique of manual, resist dyeing used to make patterns on fabrics. Learn to create many patterned textiles utilizing Shibori techniques, a process with a long, cherished history in Japan.
