Evening of Excellence: 2023 Alumni Awards
On Homecoming, we will honor the 2023 Tennessee Tech Alumni Association Award recipients at an Evening of Excellence: W. Antoni Sinkfield, Distinguished Alumnus; Lamar Moore, Outstanding Young Alumnus; Michael and Cigi England, Outstanding Service; and David K. Morgan, Outstanding Philanthropy.
The event is Saturday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room. Tickets are $50 per person through Oct. 19; after Oct. 19 the cost will increase to $70.

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Dakota Moye, Electrical Engineering/Physics
This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will be given by TTU Electrical Engineering major and Physic minor Dakota Moye who will describe his continuing study of the 34Mg decay chain. In his talk Decay of 34Mg and Its Daughters, Dakota will discuss his analysis of data taken at Canadian laboratory TRIUMF to determine key properties of known decay modes in this system as well as uncover new transitions. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!For questions, contact aholley@tntech.edu

Rural Reimagined Faculty Grant Program
The Center for Rural Innovation is excited to announce the second annual Rural Reimagined Grand Challenge Faculty Grant Program will be granting $150,000 to TN Tech faculty members to help fund rural-related projects. We are excited to announce the allocation of $150,000 in funding to support innovative, faculty-led research projects that examine and address rural facing challenges. Applications are open now. The application deadline is Friday, November 4, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. CST. Looking for an intense challenge? Register for the 2023 Putnam Math Competition!
Do you like math puzzles? Are you looking for a challenge of epic proportions? The 2023 Putnam Mathematical Competition is calling.
The preeminent math competition for college students in North America, the Putnam Competition takes place on the first Saturday in December, and is given here on the Tennessee Tech campus. It consists of two 3-hour sessions, comprising a dozen supremely challenging problems, covering everything from algebra, geometry and calculus to number theory, linear algebra and methods of inductive proofs.
These are no ordinary test questions, but a series of fiendishly constructed puzzles that call upon both your math knowledge and your problem-solving skills. Top performers receive scholarships, and all participants leave with the knowledge that they have scaled the Mount Everest of math.

Tech’s 11th Annual Purple Palooza
Register your booth for Tech’s 11th Annual Purple Palooza on Thursday, October 26. All campus organizations are welcome to register for a booth. A total of 34 booths will be available with reservations being honored on a first come, first served basis.
Trick-or-treating will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Tech’s basketball doubleheader to follow at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public!

Tech Volleyball Welcomes Lindenwood
Cheer on your Golden Eagle Volleyball team this weekend as they take on the Lions of Lindenwood University on Friday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m.
Each year, the first week in October is dedicated to Mental Health Awareness. Wear green on Friday as Tech Volleyball strives to raise awareness about mental illness.
Come out for Youth Day on Saturday as Tech Volleyball hosts a 30-minute clinic and autograph session following their match. The clinic is FREE and open to kids in grade 6 or younger. Click the link below to register!
