Student Spotlight Nominations Now Open – Spring 2024 Semester
Do you know a student deserving recognition? The Division of Student Affairs is requesting nominations for the Student Affairs Student Spotlight. This project aims to highlight Golden Eagles students who excel both in and outside the classroom. Selected students will be featured in a Tech Times article and a Student Affairs Instagram post. Deadline Extended to Feb 9, 2024, for QEP Topic Mini-Proposals
Due to the recent university closure, we’re extending the call for QEP topic mini-proposals to February 9. Proposals should align with Tech’s vision, mission, and strategic plan, Tech Tomorrow, integrate current institutional data, and address the QEP topic survey results.
All proposals will be assessed by the QEP Topic Selection Committee using the rubric in the announcement. The top three proposals will be selected for potential further development. Authors of selected proposals receive monetary honoraria, as detailed in the announcement.

Purple Career Readiness Workshop on January 25- Introduction to Purple and NACE
Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, January 25, at 11 a.m. in Clement Hall 212 for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop! Mr. Russ Coughenour, Center for Career Development Director, will teach you about NACE Career Ready Skills, which are sure to impress a potential employer.

Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School: PAID Summer Internships – Apply by March 1
The College of Education’s Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School is accepting applications for this summer’s internship program (June 5 – July 12) offering a unique and paid opportunity for Tech students of all majors. The FREE six-week program engages local children (grades 1 – 5) and their families in a variety of interactive learning projects and activities, field trips, and more. Participating students’ families qualify for free/reduced lunch programs.

Autonomous Robotics Club invited to the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship!
The Autonomous Robotics Club VEX U Robotics Team has been invited to the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship following their Top 5 Ranking on the Global Skills Leaderboard!
The VEX Robotics World Championship, presented by the Northrop Grumman Foundation, will take place April 25 through May 3 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas. The annual event brings together the top VEX U teams from around the globe to celebrate their accomplishments and participate in the 2023-2024 games to be crowned world champions.

History Professors and Their Undergraduate Student Publish Article
History faculty members, Dr. Allen Driggers and Dr. Laura Smith and their student, Cheyenne Douthitt, recently had their research, “History, politics, and variolation vaccination hesitancy in the American South during the American Civil War,” published in Baylor University Medical Center Proceedings.
In their article, the researchers examine how the history of vaccination in the Civil War reveals lessons about why citizens resisted vaccination and how physicians tried to respond to the problems associated with combating epidemic diseases like smallpox.
Congratulations to all, especially undergraduate Cheyenne Douthitt – what a wonderful accomplishment!
