Long Term Disability – Open Enrollment
Open enrollment period for Long-Term Disability (Reliance Standard) starts today and runs through 04/14/2023, all eligible employees (regular faculty and staff working 30 hrs. or more a week) who are not currently enrolled in the plan may join without needing proof of insurability or having to answer medical questions.

Personalized Learning
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) for our next workshop session on Tuesday, April 4th at 11 AM as we discuss personalized learning. Personalized learning is an approach to education that tailors instruction to students’ unique strengths, needs, and interests. In this session, we will discuss student-centered strategies for learning objectives, goal setting, ownership, and reflection opportunities. Alyssa will be providing a space for connection and processing for LGBTQIA+ students on Tuesdays in April. The Eagle Resource Room (RUC 387) will be available for students from 11-12 p.m. and Alyssa will be present for therapeutic support. No reservation is required, drop in when you can!

Purple Career Readiness Workshop on April 3: Interview Skills
Join the Center for Career Development on Monday, April 3, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Roaden University Center Tech Pride Room (1st floor) for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop. Mr. Russ Coughenour, Center for Career Development Director, will share the best way to answer tough interview questions utilizing the STAR-L Method!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for attendance credit of event.

FOAM DANCE PARTY
You are invited to a FOAM PARTY at the Wesley Foundation at Tennessee Tech! If you haven’t heard of a foam party before, it’s a dance party with a machine that creates a foam bubble dance floor! The foam is non-toxic and really fun to play/dance in. Your clothes will get wet but not stained. The party is on Tuesday, April 4th at 6pm at the Wesley Foundation. Career Readiness is due in TWO WEEKS!
Friday, April 21 is the FINAL DAY to submit your Career Readiness Application for the Spring 2023 semester. All materials for Gold and Purple Career Readiness Applications MUST be turned in-person to the Center for Career Development (RUC 328), via email to career@tntech.edu, or online at https://www.tntech.edu/career/students/career-ready.php by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21.
Substitutions or late submissions will not be accepted.

WEST Workshop: Rhetorical Situations
The rules for writing aren’t always the same. What works in a Freshman Composition paper doesn’t work in a newspaper op-ed, and your best strategies for writing a History paper won’t necessarily apply when writing a personal statement. All of this varies based on your audience and the rules of the genre, what we call the “rhetorical situation.” Want help understanding this issue? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, has got you covered! On Tuesday, 4/4, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on understanding and working within rhetorical situations. We can talk about ways to assess different rhetorical situations, and how to figure out the “rules” for any given piece of writing. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B, from 11:00-11:50. No registration is required, and all are welcome. And if you can’t make the workshop, come for a one-on-one session with one of our consultants.
