Looking for an intense challenge? Register now for the Putnam Math Competition!
Do you like math puzzles? Are you looking for a challenge of epic proportions? The Putnam Mathematical Competition is calling.
The preeminent math competition for college students in North America, the Putnam Competition takes place on the first Saturday in December, and is given here on the Tennessee Tech campus. It consists of two 3-hour sessions, comprising a dozen supremely challenging problems, covering everything from algebra, geometry and calculus to number theory, linear algebra and methods of inductive proofs.
These are no ordinary test questions, but a series of fiendishly constructed puzzles that call upon both your math knowledge and your problem-solving skills. Top performers receive scholarships, and all participants leave with the knowledge that they have scaled the Mount Everest of math.

TCRI Presents at Upper Cumberland Economic Development Summit
On August 9-10, TTU held the first Upper Cumberland Economic Development Summit, hosted by the Tennessee Center for Rural innovation (TCRI). Regarding the summit, TCRI director Michael Aikens states, “It was a great forum to share ideas, network, and discover resources and programs that seek to revitalize our rural communities.” In a panel discussion, TCRI spoke on their contribution to economic development by providing technical assistance to entrepreneurs and businesses within tourism, technology, innovation, retail, and agriculture. TCRI positions its efforts to directly transform rural living through science, technology, innovation, and economic development across 76 rural counties.

All Ladies in Civil Engineering (ALICE) will be hosting Linda Sullivan, a Tech alum, as our environmental speaker on Friday October 28th from 11:30am to 12:30pm in Prescott 226. All ladies who are majoring in Civil Engineering or who would like to major in civil engineering are welcome to attend.
Linda Sullivan, the president of CIA (Civil Infrastructure Associates), has 23 years of experience as a civil engineer with a focus in water treatment, supply systems, wastewater collection, and treatment systems. She also has lots of experience in project management such as alternative evaluation, engineering reports, and construction administration and observations.

Meditation and Journaling self care workshop with ASPIRES and Deanna Lack
Join Tech ASPIRES and Deanna Lack for a wonderful relaxation and self care workshop. Deanna is the minister of the Cookeville Unitarian Universalist Congregation as well as a certified meditation teacher and a writer. She will instruct participants in using music, mindfulness, breath, imagery, and writing to calm mind and body, relieve stress, and learn new tools to add to our self care ‘tool boxes’.
