    Golden Eagle Golf Club offers reduced rates for Tech employees for 2020

    Tennessee Tech University employees can take advantage of some reduced rates at the Golden Eagle Golf Club for the 2020 golf season.

    Weekday rates for TTU employees include $25 for 18 holes and $16 for nine holes. Tech employee rates for weekends stand at $27 for 18 holes and $17 for nine holes.

    All prices include a golf cart. All 18-hole rounds earn a stamp on GEGC’s frequent player card as well. When a golfer receives five stamps for playing five, 18-hole rounds, their sixth round is free.

    Memberships are also available on an annual basis, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31.

  • National Science Foundation issues update regarding COVID-19

    The National Science Foundation has issued Important Notice No 146 to the Community Regarding COVID-19. NSF has also issued additional guidance on NSF’s implementation of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum (M-20-17).  Questions about the policies described in the NSF Guidance should be directed to policy@nsf.gov. Questions specific to a particular award should be directed to the cognizant NSF Program Officer. NSF is working to update existing FAQs and other resources to reflect NSF’s new guidance and will keep you informed on its website at: nsf.gov/coronavirus.  Visit the Office of Research home page (www.tntech.edu/research) for more details.

     

  • Research and Creative Inquiry Day event to be held in digital format

    Due to the continuing developments regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the 2020 Research and Creative Inquiry Day event will be moving forward in a digital format. Participating students who have submitted an abstract should create a PDF version of their posters and send them via email to jlmurdock@tntech.edu by Monday, April 20.  The subject line of the email should read “Poster Submission.” Judges will be provided their posters to evaluate via email on April 21.    

    Revised Event Timeline:

    April 21-24:

      •   Judges will evaluate posters based on the evaluation forms on the Research and Creative Inquiry Day website.

    Week of April 27:

        Winners will be announced and winning certificates mailed.

    Share Your Self-Care Giveaway

    The Women’s Center and Project AWAKEN are cohosting the e-event “Share Your Self-Care Giveaway” March 30-April 3. All week, the Women’s Center and Project AWAKEN will be posting different types of self-care and encouraging students to post how they practice self-care. Students who post pictures or videos to Instagram or Facebook and tag @TntechWomensCenter and @TNTechAwaken will be entered to win a prize! Opportunities for multiple prize entries will be given.   • Graduate Admissions waiving Entrance Exams

    Graduate Admissions waiving Entrance Exams

    In response to the difficulties applicants are facing in scheduling Graduate School Entrance Exams, the College of Graduate Studies, in agreement with all graduate programs, is waiving the entrance exam requirements (GRE, MAT, GMAT) for summer and fall 2020.  Applicants are still required to meet all other program specific admissions requirements.  This move will alleviate some of the stress applicants are experiencing as they try to plan for their future.  For more information contact Graduate Studies at 931-372-3233 or gradstudies@tntech.edu.

  • TBR Student Engagement, Retention, and Success (SERS) Call for Proposals

    The TBR recently released a Call for Proposals for the 2020-2021 TBR Student Engagement, Retention, and Success (SERS) initiative. Anyone planning to apply should complete a Notice of Intent to Submit Proposal (found on the Office of Research website Forms page) ASAP. All proposal narratives must be submitted to research@tntech.edu by noon, Monday, May 11, to ensure there is time for the required Counsel review.

    SERS grants are available for new or existing campus services or programs that target underserved student populations, including, but not limited to, students of color, low-income students, adults, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and traditionally underrepresented genders by discipline/CTE program. Maximum funding levels for both pilot programs and program enhancements is $50,000.

    Center for Career Development update for faculty and staff

    The Center for Career Development is currently operating on a modified operation schedule.  Students can still make appointments, have their resumes critiqued and search for job opening through Handshake.   In addition, all student appointments are currently being handled via phone or Zoom.

  • March Nomination: Nominate a deserving Tech employee for Ambassador of the Month

    Show your appreciation for someone who has exceeded the call of duty to help you by nominating that person as Ambassador of the Month. The winner receives a letter of recognition, a certificate and a reserved parking space on campus for one month.     Registration for Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Michelob

    Registration for the 2020 Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Michelob Ultra has officially opened, enabling golfers to make reservations for Tennessee Tech’s golf fundraiser.

    The fundraiser brings back its popular three-day format yet again, featuring 18 holes of golf on Friday, June 12, Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14. The tournament will take place at both the Golden Eagle Golf Club and White Plains Golf Club. Pepsi returns as the title sponsor for the 16th year while the Golden Eagle Athletic Department welcomes Michelob Ultra as its new corporate partner as the event’s presenting sponsor. Michelob Ultra will also serve as the presenting sponsor of Doc Fields’ Annual Concert.

    Tournament applications will be mailed to all past participants, former Tennessee Tech athletes and alumni in the surrounding areas.

  • Updated Precautions Regarding the Impact of COVID-19 AND THE COUNSELING CENTER

    In accordance with recommendations by the Centers of Disease Control with regard to limiting gatherings/groups to less than 10 people, the Tn Tech Counseling Center will remain open with updated precautions. All in person appointments are cancelled beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. All existing  in person appointments will transition to videoconferencing appointments.

    Please contact the Tn Tech Counseling Center directly to schedule future appointments via videoconferencing. 

     Please be patient as we work together in continuing to provide services and resources while making health and safety the priority of the Tn Tech community.

  • Internal Search for Women’s Center Director

    The Women’s Center is conducting a search (internal only) for a part-time Director to lead and support efforts for women’s equity across campus and the community. The appointment to the position is for 1 – 3 years and is renewable. Applicants will be required to electronically upload a Letter of Interest and a detailed Curriculum Vitae. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all materials are received. Applications without all required documents are incomplete and will not be considered.
