      1. – This award celebrates Piepmeier’s legacy of fierce feminism by recognizing an exceptional Tennessee Tech student whose research, activism and/or outreach advances gender equity. It acknowledges a student who shows a passion for learning, goes the extra mile to assist others, and contributes significantly to campus and/or the local community. Nominate

    The CSW Excellence Award

      1. – This award is presented annually to an individual employed by Tennessee Tech University who has contributed significantly to gender equity. The award honors three qualities that characterize the tradition of women’s leadership at Tech: perseverance, generosity, and mentorship. The award celebrates the efforts of Tennessee Tech employees to provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the campus community and work towards gender equity for all. Nominate

    Our last Eagle’s Flight event is this Thursday, November 19th, from 11 to 12 (dead hour) in Johnson Hall 401. It will be our Eagle’s Flight Winter Bash where we will play Eagle’s Flight trivia, hear from the Eagle’s Flight supervisor, Dr. Camuti, receive a boxed lunch/free swag, and say our final goodbyes for the semester. The trivia game will be done through Kahoot, so please have the app downloaded before you come OR you can simply use this link to play: www.kahoot.it

    Rural Journeys Speaker Series – Tues., Nov. 17 at 3 pm

    The Rural Reimagined Club and TAB is proud to announce the final Rural Journeys Speaker Series session of the semester! Our third virtual conversation will be on Tuesday, November 17th at 3pm. Mason Hilliard and Aaron Lay will be sharing their rural stories as leaders at Tennessee Tech.

    Born and raised in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, Mason graduated from Tennessee Tech in Fall 2019 with a major in Political Science and a double minor in History and Communication Studies. He has previously served as the Student Government Association President and Student Trustee on the Board of Trustees. Mason is currently an undergraduate admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions and travels throughout West Tennessee to encourage students to enroll at Tech.

    Aaron is a junior at Tennessee Tech from Madisonville, Tennessee, majoring in Agriculture Communications with a minor in Political Science. He currently serves as Student Body President in the Student Government Association. Aaron is also involved as a President’s Ambassador and as a Student Ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology. Upon graduating, he aspires to work in legislative affairs on Capitol Hill before going to law school to practice agriculture and environmental law.

    EVENT: November 17, 2020 | Drive-thru Drop-off:

    Between 11am and 2pm in front of the Roaden University Center. Pull down to the unloading zone where volunteers will collect bags from vehicles. Please have your items in a clear plastic grocery or Ziploc bag and include your $9 shipping fee.  We will box them for you.

     

    EVENT: November 19, 2020 | Outside Packing Party on the Plaza: 

      Between 11am – 2pm on Centennial Plaza. We will have all collected items sorted on tables for you to make boxes onsite and/or donate to the shipping fees. Volunteers will be wearing gloves and masks to assist you in making boxes.

     

    Please check the website for suggested items for a box and prohibited items.

    A few facts about giving blood:

      • 4.5 million Americans will need blood during each year.

     

      • 43,000 pints of blood is used each day in the US and Canada.

     

      • 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood.

     

      • There are four blood types (A, B, AB and O). AB is the universal receipient. O is the universal donor.

     

      One pint of blood can save up to three lives.
