Recycled Materials Art Contest
Sustainability Month is right around the corner, and one of the ways the Office of Sustainability is celebrating is with the Recycled Material Art Contest! You can participate by submitting a piece of art made with recycled medium. Submissions are due by Monday, October 12th and will be judged by fellow students at our Sustainability Day Celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 13th. Winners will be announced on our social media and prizes awarded on that Friday!

Curious about the future of AI?
Catherine Schuman, Ph.D., of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will present a talk on spiking neural networks and neuromorphic computing Sept. 25, 10:30 a.m.-noon, in Prescott 215 as part of the Machine Intelligence and Data Science (MInDS) Center’s Fall AI Event Series.
Learn how AI systems are being designed to work more like the human brain and explore emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence. Open to all Tech students, faculty and staff.

Parking & Transportation Improvements to Better Serve You
Beginning this week, the university will add a fourth shuttle during peak times and introduce an “express route” that runs continuously between the West Purple Lot and the corner of Stadium Drive and University Drive near the Ashraf Islam Engineering Building, with wait times of less than five minutes. Learn more at www.tntech.edu/parking/shuttles.php.
Additionally, the university will begin communicating time-sensitive parking messages –including construction impacts, temporary lot closures and reopenings, and traffic flow changes for special events – through the Passio GO app, which many of you already use to monitor shuttle locations and wait times.
To use the app, download Passio GO for free in the Apple Store or on Google Play. Once the app is installed, go to “My Agency” on the left-hand side of the app and search “Tennessee Tech,” then click to select. By enabling push notifications, users can receive a message on their phone’s lock screen any time a new parking message is shared.

Protecting Your Research: Intellectual Property for Faculty
Your research, software, creative work or inventions may be valuable intellectual property. Join TTAC for a virtual workshop at 11 a.m., Sept. 29, to learn the basics of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets and research data. Tennessee Tech faculty and researchers will also learn how TTAC can help protect their work and identify opportunities for future partnerships and funding. Register online to attend.
