    Gold Career Readiness Makeup Workshop on Apr. 13

    Do you still need to attend one more workshop to complete your Gold Career Readiness Application? Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, Apr. 13, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for our final Gold Career Readiness Workshop with Russ Coughenour, Director of the Center for Career Development, of the semester!

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

    To attend virtually, access the link for TEAMS in Handshake Events. To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation.     Alien Citizen screening + Q&A

    Who are you when you’re from everywhere and nowhere?  The answer: I’m not from a place. I’m from people.

    IMPACT TTU invites you to a Center Stage event bringing Elizabeth Liang to screen her film, do a Q&A session, and a workshop. Alien Citizen: An Earth Odyssey an award-winning film about growing up in the intersections of identity as a dual citizen of mixed heritage in six countries.

    This experience will be fun, engaging, thought provoking, surprising, & insightful. The event takes place over 2 evenings via Zoom:  film screening and Q& on Monday, April 12 at 6 pm and the workshop will happen Wednesday, April 14 at 6 pm. If you can only attend one of the two dates, please do so and know you are welcome!

    By now all supervisors should have logged into People Admin and created the plan, initiating self-evaluations. Please log into People Admin via Tech Express to complete your 2020-2021 self-evaluation in a timely manner.

    Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Prof. Jason Fry, EKU

    Professor Jason Fry from Eastern Kentucky University will be visiting (virtually) Friday to give this week’s talk in the Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar series. Professor Fry and his students work on a set of experiments designed to identify nuclear systems that are capable of enhancing the effect of possible “time violating” interactions, cases where “playing the movie backwards” would not describe what happens in an actual “reversed” experiment! The talk, The (A)Symmetry of Time and Space, will be this Friday, April 9th at 4pm. It is geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!     Register for a two-hour training slot to learn how to respond to disclosures of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and/or stalking. This Project AWAKEN training will cover reporting obligations, crisis intervention and applicable resources. All faculty & staff are welcome!

    The Center for Career Development is looking for Career Ambassadors

    The Center for Career Development is looking for part-time student employees to fill Career Ambassador positions.  These positions are responsible for assisting with the department’s programs and events including organization and execution.  We are also looking for one student that can offer basic IT support.  These positions will start in August 2021.

    Qualities: 

        • Have a cumulative QPA of 2.5 or better.
        • Enrolled at Tennessee Tech University as an undergraduate student.
        • Maintain high regard and attitude for the University & scholarship.
        • Possess great interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
        • Detail-oriented and organization skills are a must.
        • Integrity, punctuality, and dependability.
        • The ability to work both independently and as a team.
        • Proficient use of a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other programs
        • Have excellent written and oral communication skills while upholding professional etiquette.

    Provide proper customer service skills when communicating with students, parents, University faculty and staff, and employers.

    The English Club meets Tuesday, April 13,  11 AM, for this semester’s PED Talk. Please join us as Dr. Gray gives us a glimpse of her new book, Culinary Diplomacy’s Role in the Immigrant Experience – Fiction and Memoirs of Middle Eastern Women, and talks about navigating the publication process. PED Talks are a fun way to get to know Tech’s English professors and their field of study in a non-pressure environment. All majors are welcome!

    iLearn Course Analytics

    Course analytics can help provide insight into how effective course elements are, as well as the level of engagement for students. The analytics function in iLearn allows instructors to monitor class progress, content statistics, assignment statistics, and more. During this session, Lauren and Kyle will cover how to find your course analytics, how to understand and use the information collected, and how to then implement that information for better course design and higher student engagement.

    LinkedIn Learning & ePortfolios Workshop

    The nature of LinkedIn is centered around professionalism, which means it provides an easy way for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to cut through any social noise. It serves as a sort of electronic portfolio in the career search process. Instructors are encouraged to assign courses related to course content/objectives for a grade or suggest courses that help students perform better on performance assessments.

    This workshop will help instructors learn to utilize one of the most valuable tools offered to faculty and students at Tennessee Tech. Specifically, the objectives of the training include:

        • Overview of LinkedIn and LinkedIn Learning
        • Discuss the use of LinkedIn Learning as an electronic portfolio for students
          Create a plan for implementing LinkedIn Learning in your course
