On May 6th the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology had a student and faculty award ceremony to recognize the top service, teaching, scholarship, and advising faculty as voted on by the students and their peers.

Open House June 10: Ayers Education Center, Cookeville/Putnam Co. Animal Shelter
The Friends of Cookeville/Putnam County Animals invite the Tech community to celebrate the grand opening of the Dr. Mary Ayers Education Center on Thurs., June 10.
Dr. Ayers, remembered fondly by friends, colleagues, and alumni, taught in the College of Education from 1972-2004. She passed away in 2016. Her education center will provide programming integrating learning, pets, care, and fun!
Please stop by anytime on June 10th between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. CDT to help us celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Ayers. Tours of the shelter are at 4:15 and 5:15. The facility is located at 2650 Gainesboro Grade in Cookeville.

Student & Faculty Spotlight: Three PTC Students Intern With Rural Reimagined
Rural Reimagined (RR) continues its successful partnership with the Professional & Technical Communications (PTC) program and officially welcomes student interns Kyle Metz, Nicki Parish, and Jonah Wolfersberger for the summer 2021 semester. Metz, Parish, and Wolfersberger represent the PTC program and will receive real-world communication experience by writing and editing stories and articles centered around surrounding rural communities. They will additionally use their PTC skillsets to assist local businesses through website editing and more. Regarding his internship, Metz states “Rural Reimagined will provide me with a unique learning opportunity, and I am excited to see what the summer holds working with this internship.” Parish adds “I am excited to work with RR to develop my PTC skills and make new connections!” Wolfersberger states “I am very grateful to RR for the opportunity to advance my PTC skills, and I’m looking forward to making an impact on our community.”

CITL: iLearn Course Analytics pt 1 (Replay)
Course analytics can help provide insight into how effective course elements are, as well as the level of engagement for students. The analytics function in iLearn allows instructors to monitor class progress, content statistics, assignment statistics, and more. During this session, Lauren and Kyle will cover how to find your course analytics, how to understand and use the information collected, and how to then implement that information for better course design and higher student engagement.

Annual Performance Evaluations Deadline
Reminder that all 2020-2021 Staff Annual Evaluations are to be completed by Monday, May 31, 2021. By now supervisors should be conducting their evaluation review meetings so that employees can successfully acknowledge their evaluations prior to the May 31st deadline.

Congratulations to the College of Interdisciplinary Studies’ 2021 Alumna of the Year, Natalie Robbins! Natalie graduated from the P.S.M.-EI program in 2019. She currently works as a research analyst with the Vanderbilt Initiative for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Research.

Spaces Available: Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School for Kids, June 9-July 20
A few spaces remain for children entering 1st-5th grade to register for the FREE, six-week Freedom School experience – a literacy and cultural enrichment program for kids qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
Hosted by the College of Education, kids will engage in a variety of hands-on learning activities in a wide range of subjects, plus interactive field trips and family/community events. Breakfast and lunch are served each day. This year each child will also receive a bike and safety gear.

The deadline to apply for graduation (undergraduate) for Fall 2021 is June 1. If you are intending to complete your degree requirements this fall, please submit the application by June 1. The graduation application can be found in Eagle Online under the student records menu.
