Creative Bliss:  Hannah Smith Senior Thesis Exhibition

Senior Thesis Exhibition for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers

This show includes Fiber Art like quilts, crocheted yarn and fabric, coiled pieces, work that is displayed on the floor, and fun lighting.   These pieces are very colorful, whimsical, and fun.  Smith says, “I don’t want to make art where people say, ‘oh, interesting,’ then walk away; I want people to stop and look at my art, smile because it makes them happy, and maybe even send pictures to people to spread the joy.”  The show will be at the Appalachian Center for Craft Gallery on April 20 – May 3, 2023.  This show would help to encourage happiness of the people who get to experience it.  Depression can be a very hard thing to suffer with and if someone could get even the slightest hint of happiness from this show, the artist would succeed in her goals for this event.

Contact the School of Art, Craft & Design for more information:  931-372-3738.

  • Dr. Dennis Fennewald’s Team Compares Beef Production Business Models

Dr. Dennis Fennewald’s Team Compares Beef Production Business Models

Join Rural Reimagined in celebrating the research of Dr. Dennis Fennewald (School of Agriculture) and his student assistants Macy Johnson and Holden Cornett. Their research titled “Comparison of Regenerative and Traditional Beef Production Business Models” studied three herds sizes for differences in monetary gain and investment return among the Regenerative Agriculture and the Traditional production methods. They determined that because Regenerative Agriculture farms rely little on “off-farm inputs, and the return on investment is higher, these farms should have more economic resiliency” than the Traditional method. Dr. Fennewald and his team plan to present their findings at the Research and Creative Inquiry Day on campus. To find out more about Dr. Fennewald’s team’s research, visit their poster on Inquiry Day or check out our related Newsroom story. Rural Reimagined encourages other faculty members to share their research with us! Wings up!
