18th Annual Research and Creative Inquiry Day
All are invited to come out to Memorial Gym on Thursday, April 20th, from 9:00 – 11:00 to get a glimpse into some of the exciting research being done by TTU students. This year’s event features posters and papers generated from 226 submitted abstracts on topics as varied as the 24 fields of study from which they originate. Shark Tank Tech competition Saturday April 15!
The Sharks are coming to Tennessee Tech on Saturday, April 15 for the 10th Annual Eagle Works competition!
Eagle Works is Tech’s Shark Tank-style competition where students create innovative ideas and pitch them to a panel of judges for the chance to win! This year’s awards total over $20,000!
Meet this year’s competitors and browse the trade show from 12-1:30 p.m. in Bell Hall 260, then watch the finalists make their best pitch to our “sharks” starting at 2 pm in the Bell Hall Auditorium!

Dr. Dennis Fennewald’s Team Compares Beef Production Business Models
Join Rural Reimagined in celebrating the research of Dr. Dennis Fennewald (School of Agriculture) and his student assistants Macy Johnson and Holden Cornett. Their research titled “Comparison of Regenerative and Traditional Beef Production Business Models” studied three herds sizes for differences in monetary gain and investment return among the Regenerative Agriculture and the Traditional production methods. They determined that because Regenerative Agriculture farms rely little on “off-farm inputs, and the return on investment is higher, these farms should have more economic resiliency” than the Traditional method. Dr. Fennewald and his team plan to present their findings at the Research and Creative Inquiry Day on campus. This workshop will feature Regions Bank, who will provide insight regarding how to plan a successful budget while starting your career!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts toward Part Two of the Purple Career Readiness application for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card with you to receive credit for attendance.

The award celebrates the efforts of Tennessee Tech employees to provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the campus community and work towards gender equity for all.The Alison Piepmeier Outstanding Student Award: This award celebrates Peipmeier’s legacy of fierce feminism by recognizing an exceptional Tennessee Tech student whose research, activism and/or outreach advances gender equity. It acknowledges a student who shows a passion for learning, goes the extra mile to assist others, and contributes significantly to campus and/or the local community.

National Cannabis Awareness Month and Alcohol Awareness Month Events 04/20/2023
The Counseling Center will be providing information on substance use among college students on 04/20/2023 in the RUC Lobby from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. in honor of National Cannabis Awareness Month and Alcohol Awareness Month.
That same day, we will have a documentary viewing of “The First Day” in Derryberry Auditorium at 6:00 p.m., a story about Chris Herren, a former professional basketball player, author and wellness advocate, who shares his story of recovery with over 1 million people nationwide. Through the power of storytelling, The First Day addresses issues that school systems, communities and people across the country are impacted by, directly or indirectly, each day including substance use, other harmful behaviors and mental wellness. Following the documentary, we will have an opportunity to discuss helpful coping strategies to prevent substance abuse. The first 50 students will receive a special gift bag.
