Faculty & Staff Swim Clinic
The EXPW Department is hosting a free 5- week swim clinic for faculty, staff & adult community members starting in March at the Memorial Gym Pool. Are you a beginner looking to learn to swim or a good swimmer looking to improve? There will be both a beginner clinic and an advance clinic offered each day.
2 convenient days to choose from including:
Monday evenings: starting March 7

Avant-Garde meeting Tuesday, February 8
Avant-Garde, TTU’s French club, will meet on Tuesday, February 8, from 11-11:45 in Oakley Hall 219 to discuss activities for the coming semester.

Student Affairs Presents Student Spotlight Briley Barnett
Briley Barnett colorfully and intentionally exemplifies TN Tech’s Bold, Fearless, Confident, and Kind values in and out of the classroom. Majoring in Communications, Briley is President and Founder of Backdoor Improv Troupe and refers to Improv as a creative outlet which allows her to support and lead others. In addition to representing the Fine Arts, Briley is also a wonderful student and classmate. Dr. Lauren Michel describes Briley’s character, “In addition to being bold and fearless onstage, she brings her confidence and kindness to class daily.” Briley uses her talents to serve others by offering reassurance and creating an enjoyable learning environment. She encourages other students, “It is important to find people who support and accept you. The first rule of improv is ‘yes, and’ meaning that you accept and build upon any new ideas given. Having that mindset has allowed me to further my passion and create life-long friendships.” Congratulations to Briley for #LivingWingsUp!

Daily CSB Black History Month Trivia- Feb. 3 & 4 questions
Every weekday in February the Commission on the Status of Blacks will be featuring a trivia question for students- each day’s correct answers will be entered into a daily drawing for a modest prize, with all daily winners entered into a drawing for a grand prize at the end of the month. We want to make sure students have the books they need to complete their courses. Please announce to your classes that if students haven’t bought their textbooks, they should do so this week.
We know there may be titles not assigned until later in the term or if you have a late starting class please let us know. We would like have them in stock and available for students to purchase. We will begin returning textbooks February 9th.

Purple Career Readiness Workshop on Feb. 3: Employer Panel: Great Impression
Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Feb. 3, beginning at 11 a.m. in Stonecipher Lecture Hall, room 113 for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop. A staff member from the Center for Career Development will discuss how to impress a potential employer at the upcoming career fairs.
This event is open to all students and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Applications for Scholastic Research Award due by February 28
The Scholastic Research Award, presented by the University Research Advisory Committee, is a university-wide award for a single, significant and innovative work produced, published, performed or exhibited from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021. Two awards, of $1,500 each, are available each year, with one reserved for tenure-track faculty and the other reserved for tenured faculty. Applications must be submitted electronically in a single PDF to sstorie@tntech.edu on or before Feb. 28, 2022.
